With the grad transfer rule I'm not sure why you would redshirt anyone that can contribute at all as a freshman if it wasn't part of an agreement during recruiting. I'll translate: I dont think he plays next year. Too many better players in front of him. And you're right, BK doesnt have to redshirt, even though its 100% in his best interest. How is playing 32 min (Luke as an example) in a year helpful to the kid? He just threw away 25% of his career. Chances are if we redshirted Luke this year he would be coming back for his sophomore year at Siena unaware of how buried on the bench he would be. I agree the player is much better off redshirting as a freshman but it doesn't help the program so not sure why you would offer it unless the kid and his family were pushing for it during recruiting.

I think on a championship team that only lost one guy, and you’re part of a really good 5 man incoming class, you ll know where you stand before Thanksgiving. All I know is when that kid is 22, he’d give anything to trade one more year for that 30 min freshman year.

You don’t think Luke figured out with: Tate joining the team in Dec, and the early commits from two other 3/4 kids (Golson & BK) he was even further from the court than last year?! IF he redshirted he probably gets a waiver to play right away at Bryant and still have 4 years left of eligibility.

I, too, like this pick up; especially loved this quote:
"I'm excited," he said. "I've got a lot of people I'm going to prove wrong and show the world Harrison Curry can create a little more buzz in the basketball world. I have a lot of energy left. The past three years, I've played one season. I've got a lot of life left. The opportunity I have here is what I dreamed about having, a program where they want you, they need you, they want you to produce. I'm looking forward to that."
Sounds like from his JC coach he may be a better shooter than maybe his Detroit Mercy stars showed.
He sounds very intelligent. Comes from a family with multiple master degrees, studied as much film as possible on Burns’ game at Siena as much as noticing how the “Team” plays as well.
JC coach quote:
"He's a real personable kid. You're going to enjoy being around him. I don't know anybody that doesn't like him, anybody that's been around him. He's that kind of kid. ... .”
Also, sounds like he sat out last year not necessarily because of nagging injury but with the intent of being a grad transfer for his final year. Not saying he wasn’t still recovering but sounds more like he could have played but decided early on not to.
Great job by my BG alum sticking with recruiting him. Sounds like that may also play a little bit in his decision on coming to Siena as much as maybe watching film in how he could be utilized.
Let’s Go Saints!!!

I am concluding that the five years to play four has been relaxed or else Curry already has a waiver. Two years at Pensacola State, one at La Tech (only played one game, and two years at Detroit Mercy, only playing one year. That is five years of college.

If Paulicap is getting another year, this guy can.

I’m assuming that Curry and/or our staff looked into this and know the answer. The article I read said something about Curry not play last year so he could grad transfer. I’m assuming he wouldn’t be allowed to do that w/o someone/NCAA providing some answers. Then he entered the portal in Jan. Maybe we’ll hear something about that once this is final & coaches can talk about it (fall semester if the college doesn’t allow summer classes to begin).

His degree is in hand within the 5 years. He's a grad student now. That might change the calculus I think.

Wonder when we will hear eligibility for Curry? He’ll be eligible. There’s no way they would’ve taken him if he wasn’t.

Per Singelais, there is a problem with paperwork from Detroit to make Curry eligible for Siena.

If it’s just a delay in the paperwork getting sent due to Covid, that’s understandable and hopefully this can all get sorted out soon. Doesn’t seem like a big deal. Go Saints.

I hope it is no big deal. Unfortunately, the words NCAA, waiver, submission of player's files, and eligibility, when paired with Siena, do not predict a favorable ruling.
