Their fans trying to blow it off, but are definitely concerned, as they should be.
Bad look for the school. Will be all over ESPN at 6.

Pitino and Iona in big trouble--- apparently Pitino has not even signed his Iona contract yet- I'm not sure if it was Iona holding it up or Pitino. I'll try to find out the reason, as you certainly wont get it from the Iona spin master GuyF . Pitino charged with a Level II violation, but there's two potentially aggravating factors. Dont forget Louisville wont be fighting for Pitino- they will be throwing him under the bus , saying they cleaned up the problem at great expense ( firing pitino and subsequent settlement ) I dont believe any of the other schools charged in scandal were on probation- plus they still coach at the school so the full weight of their legal staff will be trying to protect them, while in Pitiono's case the opposite will be occurring Louisville will ask for mercy- blaming it all on the departed coach Pitino - basically throwing him under the bus. I'm reminded of Jerry Tarkanian running joke- "The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation.” But in this case going to be NCAA so mad at Louisville they gave Iona two more years of probation.. hahahaha. Iona fans saying its no big deal, 10 to 15 game suspension next year- did Pitino ever serve his 5 game suspension for the strippers-- or that suspension still pending also? At any rate should be fun to watch this play out, but make no mistake about it, Iona and Pitino in a heap of trouble

Very good chance Pitino never coaches a game for Iona or worse yet is there a few months before he gets a show cause order ( hard to believe he wont) dont forget Louisville wont be fighting for Pitino- they will be throwing him under the bus , saying they cleaned up the problem at great expense ( firing pitino and subsequent settlement ) I dont believe any of the other schools charged in scandal were on probation- plus they still coach at the school so the full weight of their legal staff will be trying to protect them, while in Pitiono's case the opposite will be occurring Louisville will ask for mercy- blaming it all on the departed coach Pitino - basically throwing himn under the bus-- at any rate should be fun to watch this play out, but make no mistake about it, Iona and Pitino in a heap of trouble /photo/1 As great as a coach that he is Siena made the right call not hiring him. Even if he coaches Iona (not a lock) will it be worth it if Iona gets a postseason ban and loss of scholarships? I’m happy with the position Siena is sitting in would not trade it for anyone else in the MAAC.

Pitino’s slippery, he might get a slap on the wrist.

great info tony, thanks...love the tark quote, that is gold! just curious: why do you think iona would get postseason ban/loss of scholarship? he didn't do that stuff at iona, so not sure about logic. but do agree louisville has zero interest in backing him. will be interesting.

Probably not that bad for Iona--Pitino looking at 10 to 20 game suspension- dont know how the stripper charges figure into this, it was under appeal, but Rick never served the 5 game suspension, he was fired before he could serve it - at any rate, not a good look for Iona Good article, best line in story The school said Monday that it did “extensive due diligence” on Pitino before hiring him. By due diligence, that apparently means Iona officials talked to Pitino and his lawyer and his golfing buddies at nearby Winged Foot Country Club, who said they have never met a more upstanding NCAA rules follower in all their lives. Boxes checked, they went on with the hire. www.si.com/college/2020/05/05/rick-pitino-louisville-scandal-iona-ncaaNCAA's Louisville dilemma: Punish former coach Rick Pitino or current players? sports.yahoo.com/nca-as-louisville-dilemma-punish-former-coach-or-current-kids-004513546.html

Looks like LVille will take the brunt of the NCAA’s ire all while the dapper don skates.

It's pretty disgusting on so many levels. I'm sure Good Old Rick has convinced even himself that he's a victim in all of this debacle. And the NCAA's ineptitude has once again been put on display for all to see. It's embarrassing!

He won’t do any time away from the bench! NCAA won’t punish Iona IMO.

I wonder if Pitino will ask Iona to cover his legal fees?!

Disagree as to Pitino, he will get a multi-game suspension and possibly a show cause order. Iona will be dealing with this for a while to come. No way Pitino skates without punishment given his history including having to give back a national championship.
