Wow number 25! I agree, mountain west, west coast and Atlantic 10, should not be on there lol. That would put Siena at number 16.

Crazy talk. Those are all mid major conferences. Gonzaga is a high major in a mid major conference. Other than that....

Nice read. Almost a fantasy at this point. Right now I'm just hoping we have a basketball season come November.

At. Louis at 6, Bona at 13 and Yale at 17.
Possible Orlando opponents Gonzaga at 1, Belmont at 7 and Boise at 47.

FYI, the mid major top 25, in its 22nd year, does not include teams from the a10 and the mountain west, although it does include the west coast. collegeinsider.com/mens-mid-major-top-25

What makes the west coast conference a mid-major but not the A-10? They are roughly the same power ranking with similar schools in terms of budget and resources.

My point was they are a mid-major conference just like the A-10 is - both just happen to be the very best mid-major conferences. Gonzaga's presence alone doesn't make the WCC a high-major conference. Many of the schools in the league have budgets and gyms similar to the MAAC.

People have very different definition of mid major but i separate the power 7 as high major, mountain west, west coast, atlantic 10 as major, and the rest as mid major/low major. Clearly the power 7 are ahead of the rest, but the a10/mountain west and west coast have better ncaa success (ie sweet 16/elite 8 etc) with consistent multiple bids/NCAA revenue and top 25 rankings then the rest of the conferences, and it's not close as evidenced by 7 out of the top -3 teams in the polls being from those 3 out of 24 possible conferences.

If we're the 25th best non power-6 team that probably puts us around 100th nationally which is certainly a realistic goal.
Our OOC schedule is really good. If we do well and win our share we have a chance for a good seed in the NCAA tournament if we win the MAAC championship.
Yale, St. Bonaventure, St. Louis, Colgate and three games in Orlando give us plenty of chances to boost the resume.

I think of A-10 very much a mid-major at this point in terms of talent, facilities and attendance Only Dayton stands out as a major.Go back to early days of A-10 and it was a major when it included Temple under Chaney, Xavier and some great UMass teams under Calipari. I'm probably missing a couple as well.
