Agreed, but if Siena-Ohio State was 50-50 proposition, Siena-Vandy would not be 30-70 in Vandy’s favor. I thought facing Vandy was a great opportunity for Siena to get a win, which is the same as I thought going into the Stanford game in Greensboro. I feel very blessed to have been in the arena for every Siena NCAA win and I hope to see at least one more in 2021. 13 seeds win 20% of the time so 30% was a great opportunity for a win

What’s your guess about how many? And I’m thinking Mulvey would be among them. Keep the streak going and you might be the answer to a trivia question some day! 😀

Those of us that have been fortunate to have been to all of the NCAA wins have special memories and we hunger for more...the Vandy game was truly awesome but my most vivid memories were etched during the Buckeye game - the Ohio State fans were totally shell shocked - guessing there might have been a large number of 911 calls that day - one of my favorite quotes came from one of our most loyal fans when he humbly accepted begrudged congrats from a Buckeye fan and said "Sorry about your loss, guess you'll have to go home and change your underwear!" - that win had to really sensitize our next up opponent and we heightened those fears late game when it looked like another big upset was looming...not to be but we'll get a chance to beat HIM, a couple of times at least, next season....

Was doing some filing tonight of old stuff I had hanging around and ran across the Sports Illustrated issue of March 24, 2008. Kenny Hasbrouck was on the cover along with other reps of schools dancing. On the preview article with brackets, Sports Illustrated picked #13 Siena to upset #4 Vanderbilt with this comment, " Stanford-stunners still have upset magic left." Wow! Switch back to 2020 and what could have been had the MAAC tourney finished. Fast forward to the 2021 NCAA Tourney- picture Jalen Pickett on the SI cover with other conference champs and qualifiers and the brackets ahead. I know right now are dark days, but better days are ahead for all of us. Hang in there, and GO SAINTS!!!!! I remember how arrogant the Vandy players and fans were in the days and hours leading up to tip-off. Those of us lucky enough to be in the arena for that game saw thousands of SEC blue-bloods sullenly eating their crow on the way out the door. Many rightfully talk about Kenny and Tay's offensive performance that game but for me the most impressive player was Edwin. He played GREAT defense taking Shan Foster, Vandy's star and SEC POY out of the game. The Commodores did not know how to win without a big game from their star. Biggest difference in the round of 32 game v. Nova was the depth and athleticism of the Nova bigs compared to the Saints. So in my mind Carm and Co. adding depth on the front line is a good move. i was on the vandy board back then. They told me that we never see the athleticism of a kid like Foster. He would be a handful. I told them before the game. Remember this name: Edwin Ubiles. They had quite the laugh at that...... obviously it didnt end well.
