MAAC takes more heat than it deserves. Sure we've had some off years but more often than not the MAAC is a good league. I like to call it the quintessential mid-major league. Not the best mid-major conference but very competitive and good quality on the basketball court (I'm not talking about facilities or attendance etc)
I would not be surprised to see the league ranked 12-13 this season.

The key will really be for the bottom teams to do well in the nonconference. If you look at 2010 they were 15th in RPI with their 8th and 9th place teams doing pretty well nonconference (Loyola 7-5, Manhattan 7-6). Unfortunately they had a Marist team that went 0-12. Had you simply removed Marist from the MAAC that year they would have been 11th in the RPI jumping past the CAA, WCC, Horizon, and Conference USA. Hopefully St Peter's isn't a similar drain this year and Marist and Canisius can throw up winning records in the nonconference like Loyola and Manhattan did in 2010.
