If Carm has enough success to get his salary up in the $750k range then that will help a lot to eliminate many of the less desirable jobs offering low seven figures. But don't think for a second that if Carm sees the perfect fit or gets 5 years guaranteed at $2 million plus that he won't jump in a second. Guys get into coaching on dreams of winning National Championships. And until he gets up to that $750k range which will likely be another 4 or 5 years he will be at risk for any job opening up that can pay $750k plus. Jumping from $350k to $750k is a huge difference.

I would expect him to get a bump soon. He wins the MAAC next year he’ll probably get a 5 year deal worth 500K a year. That makes it BCS or bust. Of course nobody is going to be able to pay $2M a year but those jobs don’t grow on trees and that means Carm won a ton of games and multiple championships and probably did damage in the NCAA tournament.

The season is on pause like the whole country. Had it continued and Siena got it done and some jobs opened up Carm's name would've popped up. Now is the time to pay the guy, get the boosters and alumni to cough up the money to keep him from bolting for a $700k gig. Another winning year it might be too late and a bigger job may be available for Carm. It's cute how you guys think this is his dream job, it's his first head coaching job guys in that profession move around some for winning some for not winning. Just look a how many jobs Carm had before coming here. He won't be as loyal as some think, you have to say the right things. Time to pay the guy, he'll become a little more loyal.

Love what Carm accomplished in one year. But do not extend him and give him a big bump after one season. No school is offering him big money after one or two successful seasons in the MAAC. Especially successful seasons with a generational MAAC player on his roster. I hope he stays a long time but i would not reward him for one successful season

No reason to not extend him for another year - it's almost a necessity for recruiting as incoming, theoretical four/five year, players want to know the coach that recruited them is likely to be around. A pay bump would be a good idea as I'm sure his extra-curricular income sources are dried up for the time being, e.g., summer camp.

He's under contract for three more years so right now it's not necessary to add years. A bump in salary for sure...we won the MAAC title. The difference with JP was as a sitting head coach he already had a 5 year deal so adding a year after the CBI was silly. Then adding three more years after the 2015-16 was something that should get an AD fired. However Carm is not the kind of coach to rest of his laurels. Now if we win it next year then it's easy- rip up the contract and give him 5 years guaranteed 500K a year plus some easily reached incentives. That locks out everyone but the power 6 jobs. If he keeps winning big keep paying him and hopefully boosters step up to reward a real Siena man. Cluess made over $1M at Iona and he NEVER won an NCAA game - no reason Siena can't pay that eventually. That's how you at least give yourself a CHANCE at keeping a guy like Carm. The others were all destined eventually to move on they had no ties to Siena. Not saying Carm won't go just that if ANYONE would stay- provided you rewarded him- he would be the guy. But nobody said we'll ever be able to compete with $2M plus a year obviously for 5 years.

No reason except that they are not well off financially just like most smaller private colleges. He certainly deserves a raise, but how much will be up to President Gibson and the board.

Gibson may need the big donors just to support the academic side as well. There is only so much $ to go around. Let's hope for the best. If successful there should be more revenue at the gate to support the program.

If Carm starts putting 8,000 fannies into the seats every game that will pay for his raise. When Siena won the Ohio game there was a tremendous surge in admission applications. That would help Siena's financial situation. I'm sure Iona was thinking of that when they hired Pitino.
