Great job by Sweeney....Carm is a joy to listen to! He really gets it!
The next several years could rival the Fran years! Can't wait!
Go SAINTS!!!

Have to love the part when Carm was talking about Dana and Aidan and how much they helped once they joined the team- many times when they were playing the part of opponents star on "scout" team Carm said they were actually better than opposing player they were simulating..LOL. Carm mentioned that Aidan will be our most athletic player with the ball in his hands on team

Carm thinks like me. Hearing him talking about what he took from each coach (Fran, Cooley, Jones, Lonergan, Jamion, etc etc) and how he wants to play is exactly the type of things I'd hope he'd say...and exactly the types of things the numbers would suggest. The numbers reflect conscious style of play decisions and they are decisions that lead to winning. That's one of the best things you want to see from a coach.
It means they are understanding of how to attain the success and it's not just happening by chance. You never heard Patsos talk in such detail. When he won it was a lot because of chance and based on emotion/toughness/player talent...not necessarily preparation and detail.

Not only does Carm have a clear vision on how he wants to play-- he recruits kids to fit that system. That is a dynamite combination !!

I love that he continues to talk of the FT margin as a big thing he wants to do. It is one of the biggest things that separates good coaches from so-so coaches. It's why Carm>Jamion. Jamion doesn't foul but he will never attack. Fran and Cooley try to both attack/draw fouls and not foul. It creates that big FT disparity and thus big PPS disparity. It's why they have remained coaches at a higher level.

Fran used to always talk about making more free throws than opponents attempt

Fran used to always talk about making more free throws than opponents attempt Yep. Good offense that draws a lot of fouls is also less prone to shooting slumps. There were times when Fran's teams couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from distance but they won the FT margin and possession battle so consistently that they'd just get more possessions and more FT attempts to always keep them scoring consistently enough to win. And since they didn't foul much they put a lot of pressure on opponents to make their jumpers in order to beat them. Fran's Siena teams were in the top 11 nationally all 5 years in fewest fouls committed. Under Carm this year, Siena was 80th in drawing fouls and 52nd in fewest committed. That's a powerful combination.

A big part of next year is replacing the 122 FT's Burns made.
Carpenter could be a big part of that from a guard stand point. If the center position is still ok out of the Pickett and roll, they should continue to get the attempts. Perhaps Carpenter will pick up the slack on any FTA shortfall.
I think he's a potentially high FTA guard with a high FT%. It could help offset some of the loss of Burns' efficiency. I think he can have a PPS of over 1.30 and be our highest PPS backcourt piece outside of Camper.
This is especially true if he's the fastest on the team with the ball in his hands as Carm states.

Young's free throw attempts per 40 were actually higher than Burns last year. If he can become a 67 to 70% free throw shooter that would go a long way.

True, but part of that is probably rebounding his own misses a la Anosike.

Wow, that Camper video is awesome, and should make it obvious to almost anyone why he was 1st team all MAAC. It was interesting to see how often he produced without an assist from Jalen. And the video barely showed his rebounding! If we had a recruit with a highlight video like that, I'd worry that he'd have a bunch of high major offers to choose from. So glad he stayed at Siena!
