And now Dimencio Vaughn goes into Portal, Rider now officially in rebuild mode Figured this would happen. There was little reason for them to stick around for the rebuild given how they've fallen short 3 years in a row.

2nd Team:
Ray Salnave?? (Said he might transfer)
3rd Team:
Pauly Paulicap (waiver for 6th year granted? Will he grad transfer?) KC Ndefo

I'll be surprised if Salnave stays - outlook for NCAA trip for Monmouth next year are slim to none. All these kids want to play in NCAA's and with the loaded revolver Siena is pointing at the MAAC and Pitino's arrival in New Rochelle- looks like everyone else is playing for 3rd next year
I will add this caveat- if the NCAA opens up transfers for all without sitting a year- mid major basketball( Siena basketball) as we know it will be over forever. All mid majors will basically become unpaid minor leagues for P6 programs. Mids are trying to delay the vote from April to June. All the P6 programs are all for it-- they will still get all the 4 and 5 star freshmen, and will cherry pick the best mid major players in country to fill out their rosters. Mids will never be able to win consistently since when they are good their rosters will be raided by P6 programs

great points about the above...i thought for a bit that maybe that could help siena a tad, in that they could get an unhappy recruit at a higher level. but it could be that say, a marc brown (old school!) plays for 2 years then goes to Seton Hall-he "practices" with us, then goes higher.
Why do these commissioner types hate mid majors so much? I remember when they came up with some BS thing that #1 seeds should play closer to home because of school or something. whole charm of the tournament is to see a Siena win a game...how many times can I watch Duke play NC State?

It would be irresponsible of the NCAA to gut the underdogs that make the NCAA tournament great. They’d ruin it forever.

Mids will never be able to win consistently since when they are good their rosters will be raided by P6 programs when this was first reported and out there, I definitely said this would really hurt Siena and other mid-majors, how anyone would think differently is fooling themselves..........you need to have some checks & balances, these are not professional athletes and you cannot allow the sport to be a compromised minor leagues for power schools...........even at the very core, most coaches do believe that the "sit out year" in essence is a positive, as it allows the athlete to transition into their required academics, matriculate into the student population and also afford them to work out with their respective team to foster learning & cohesiveness............by allowing free wheeling transfers, it may force some kind of split of divisions (much like you see in football like FBS high level and FCS lower level), we certainly would not want that...........

I’ll transfer to Kentucky or Duke. Horrible rule hopefully it doesn’t happen. The whole NCAA would be one giant clustereff. If it does at least Siena will be better than the rest of the MAAC to handle it better. We’d also be able to get more BCS kids on the downswing.

Right now I think those looking to transfer from BCS would be looking at Iona first, Pitino is a bigger attraction than any Maac school.

This would be a horrible move by the NCAA. As flawed as the process is now The NCAA has preserved at least a modicum of the belief that this is about student athletes choosing the best College for their educational goals. If they approve this it should officially change its name to the N$AA.

Simple compromise would be if there is a coaching change then the kids are free to transfer and not sit a year. Without a coaching change or hardship waiver you sit out a year.

Pitino could be great for Iona or he could get a major show cause and never coach a game for them too. Imagine having back-to-back interim head coaches? Ask yourself this why did it take Pitino this long to get a job and at Iona?

Because Tim Cluess was incredibly successful there. Sent from my LM-V405 using proboards No I mean why didn't anyone hire Pitino until now? And why is he going to the MAAC? No Power conference or A10 or Mountain West willing to take a chance? Iona could look genius or it could blow up in their faces if the NCAA comes down on Pitino.
