From 6th (preseason) to first in one season. Quite an achievement. Hoped for but unexpected. Something to be proud of.

I don't care about him being a first-year coach. If the guy deserves it, he deserves it, whether its his first year on the job or tenth.

So, they were 62.9% chance to not win it. Good job presenting this M.

So, they were 62.9% chance to not win it. Good job presenting this M. When you have six teams left that happens mathematically . After the last two quarterfinals were finished on Thursday before the tip-off for the semifinals Siena probably would’ve been at 50% at least.

We had a very good year but still 2 games away from being “tournament” champs

I just saw this. That seems right. We had a very good year but still 2 games away from being “tournament” champs That's not what the MAAC said. What is so hard to understand about this. Would have Carm and the team rather have won the last two games--of course they would have have. The tournament was canceled thru no fault of Siena- MAAC by laws say if MAAC tournament is canceled the highest remaining seed is awarded the MAAC tournament championship. Had Siena lost to Manhattan its first game SPC would have been awarded the MAAC tournament trophy -- had Siena and SPC lost them Rider would have received it. Siena had best season in the MAAC- by every measurable computer service was the best team.So why should Siena be punished ? Siena is regular season and tournament champion-- look it up!! /photo/1

Siena is the MAAC champ.
Had Siena limped into the end of the season...maybe a different argument could be made. Had Siena won the regular season on tie-breakers...maybe a different argument could be made. Had Siena barely beaten Manhattan in the first tourney game...maybe a different argument could be made.
None of that was the case. The team was a on a double-digit win streak, won the conference outright and beat Manhattan handily. There was no indication of a stumble down the stretch. They earned it, period.
With that I'd also like to note that this once again shows you don't need an effing 5 year plan to recover a program. Yes, this was year 1 for Carm but the rebuild started last year with JC. So in 2 years, we go from bottom of the league to MAAC champs. That is the way it happens with good coaches.
I hope D'Arg learns after this. For new coaches...sign a 5 year contract but no buyout-after year 3. If we aren't leading the league after year 3 we need a new coach. See also Mike D, Paul H, Fran M. How hard is this!?

How hard is this!? Good post Glen and right on the mark. Coach Carm the team and the fans would have all rather won the tournament on the floor. Siena had no control over tournament being canceled- only fair thing to do ( and according to MAAC by laws) is award the best team in the MAAC ( over 30 games) the tournament championship. Only people that have problem with that are a few sour grapes fans from other MAAC programs and some poster who has a grand total of 1 post on Siena board
