Not what I'd like to see, but what I'd like to hear: A real Siena "Fight" Song. The only thing we have is "When the Saints..." and of course that's not original to us and feels worn and tired. And then there's "Put on Your Old Green Bonnet" which is really a drinking song, and not a very good one at that. ( I know that will be heresy to some). It has only one effing stanza! Do you stop drinking after one round of beers? Of course not. So, I propose the school commission a Siena Fight Song, something to excite the crowd, to awaken them from their mid-Winter slumber! Anyone know if John Phillips Sousa is still available??

Hard to merge the name "Saints" with a fight song unless you reach back to the Crusades and I doubt much singing was done back then...

I guess you never heard the nearly 7 min version before: m.youtube.com/watch?v=g7UcO4L3vmsI was going to try and get Siena to play this you-tube video before each game next season. Maybe not directly before the start of the game but maybe during the warm-ups, say 10 mins before the national anthem or something like that. Worse case after the end of each win. I try and play this video each Siena away game bus trip.

Yeah, I get what you're saying about fighting and saints and I don;t think we want to touch anything to do with the Crusades...should keep it apolitical. But believe it or not in the old World Hockey League which I think eventually merged with the NHL, there was a team called the Minnesota Fighting Saints - which I agree doesn't make sense. So, leave out the fight and let's call it the Siena Victory March!

Thanks for posting video, IndianSaint! I'm not sure I ever saw it, but kudos to the Muldoons for creating and I guess writing the additional stanzas to the song. Very nice tribute to class of '67 in particular. But still not a song to inspire and excite the masses. Any ideas Musicman?

I have been following both of the discussions about the spirit at the games and the choice of a new fight song to get the crowd into it. I'm afraid that I don't have any great ideas or suggestions for an exciting number for our SAINTS. I was the student director of our pep band at Murray State in 1969. We were 17th in the country and played Marquette who was No.2.in the NCAAS. (Al McGuire days) I do agree with suggestions about having the pep band play more. (Get rid of the much too loud "canned music"!) I'm going to continue to think about it and see if I can come up with anything!

The best in-game (timeouts of course) music can be found at Marist. Their fight song is one of the best in the college game (would be, IMO, ranked with the big boys in a Top 15 or 25). They also position the full band (marching band size) adjacent to the visitors' bench end of the court. It is intimidating and disruptive as head coaches try and up their volume to their players. I remember a game at Tennessee State where they put their marching band in the same relative position near the Siena bench. They had more tubas than we had instruments in our then pep band. They were deafening, annoying and good!

Didn't matter how many of them there were, though. Saints won the game.

I drove to Hartford last March to see Ja Morant and his teammates face Marquette in the first round. I was not disappointed. He is an incredible talent.

That's why he was the #2 pick in the draft(would've probably been #1 just about any other year thanks to Zion). I was there for the round of 32 games and he did all he could to keep Murray State in it before FSU pulled away. Also Purdue's Carsen Edwards followed that game up against Villanova with probably the best single game performance I have seen
