Can't the maac come up with a rule to cut this crap out? Or maybe we should do it too if this is how the game is played now.

We're in an era in which 2.5 players transfer out of any given program annually. If you can get a stud proactively, why wouldn't you?

So what you do is you get any 13 kids on scholarship. Lock it down. Then keep replacing the 13th man with better players until time runs out. Great plan, and not at all unscrupulous for the players.

Aw, you're worried about the players, how cute. Tell me, how many kids bolted the MAAC this offseason in search of something better again? Again: kids are gonna leave anyway. We know this, the data prove it. So why not have another player at the ready?

It doesn't really matter if the 13th kid on scholarship gets upended at the last minute and has to transfer down or sit out a year. As long as the coach gets the best possible player to justify his hiring and his salary. Like I said, every coach should do this if there is no rule against it.

So the school has no right to protect itself from kids bolting? What if Osborn Shema averages a double double and bolts for the Big East?

Let me think about it for a minute.... OH WAIT, I THOUGHT OF A SOLUTION! How about he does what every other coach in the maac does, and accept another scholarship at that time? Look, if the rules have changed, and all of a sudden it's ok to openly dole out more scholarships than the limit, then every other maac school should do it to keep it even Steven. Otherwise there should be a maac rule to stop it since the NCAA doesn't have the integrity to implement it.

The kid doesn't get his ship until he arrives on campus. Don't be pissed because Pitino is a genius that kids are pumped to play for. Whining about something that any college team can do stinks of jealousy.

The kid gets his scholarship when he signs his LOI - if no LOI, the kid runs a risk that's why late signings are not recommended...

We’re talking basketball here, right? How much of a “genius” do you have to be to coach a team of basketball players? Now, granted, maybe that “genius” label comes more into play when you consider all of the machinations he’s had to go through in his dealings with the NCAA. Then there’s all of the off-the-court stuff he’s been involved in over the years. Probably does rise to that “genius” level to have come through it all and still have a career.

He's probably a decent guy, and has probably done many beneficial and worthwhile things along the way, but at this point, he just has way too much baggage as far as I'm concerned. Yes, he has been successful in his career, if you define "success" only as winning games, but I think there's a lot more to it than that. I am more than happy with our guy. Maybe the NCAA will let your guy actually coach at Iona. Not sure why they would given all of the issues involved, but that's up to the NCAA. If he does coach, looking forward to the games between our two schools.

Why would any player ever WANT to leave Pitino? He's already promised every kid he's recruited that he'll get them in the NBA, and these 2* kids are falling for it.
Truth is RP already sees where he failed in recruiting, and has replaced the kid already. Problem is the kid doesnt know it yet. We'll know which kid got the boot in March.
Hopefully this type of recruiting is used against him by rival coaches.

[/quote] I think the vast majority of Siena fans would acknowledge the positive attributes that Pitino does possess both professionally and personality wise. The part of this discussion that you should understand is that we Siena fans don't envy Iona at all, because of Carm and his hard working staff. We love exactly where we are at and I think everyone is looking forward to the challenge of competing against a strong Iona roster. There are going to be some great games this season. That is, of course, unless this Covid situation worsens and disrupts everyone's season.

Iona not done in '21.....still recruiting kids in that class. Pitino off to a stellar start. Already turning on his kids. Those kids at Iona better sleep with one eye open, or they'll end up like Moe Green.
