JK is small and can get posted up, but we had no one with quicker feet keeping their man in front last year. I hope our new guys are great. Just really hoping for a Firefly type potential down the road. JK=TF freshmen year? Stats guys? I totally agree with your critique on JK. No one is saying that he doesn't have challenges due to his size but he was a big plus for our roster this season. There were people predicting he wasn't going to even get off the bench at the beginning of the season. When he got off to a slow start shooting individuals found it easy to label him a poor shooter. He exceeded just about everyone's expectations this year. I loved his fire, energy and loved watching his hustle all year. Don't put limitations on what you think he is going to achieve because you will probably be wrong again. I'm not planning on seeing him make an All-League team anytime soon. I am looking forward to three more years watching his hustle, shooting and great enthusiasm. He was one of my favorite players this last season. And think he is a PG.

If King plays the role Hein played we'll be better off because of his shooting ability. He was a great addition once he got some confidence in his shot. I like the kid and he definitely has a future on the team.

Here are the ratings of Hein vs. King in MAAC play only:
---------Ortg ----- Drtg ----- Net
Hein ---94.8 ---- 105.9 --- (11.1) King ---105.3 --- 106.1 --- (0.8)
Now King's overall numbers for the year aren't as good because of his early struggles. However, you can see that, by MAAC play, once he started making threes....the net effect on the team by playing one over the other became drastic.
Neither one of them was particularly good on D though.

Here's where the bigs stood:
Full Season:
------- --- Ortg --- Drtg --- Net
Young --- 98.9 ---- 92.5 --- 6.4 Burns --- 129.4 --100.9 ---28.5 Friday ---101.3 ---100.0 --- 1.3
MAAC Play:
------- --- Ortg --- Drtg --- Net Young --- 105.3 --- 91.4 --- 13.9 Burns --- 129.7 --- 100.6 ---29.1 Friday --- 100.0 ---- 99.5 ----0.5
Clearly Burns was great especially on offense..however..you can see that Young's defense and rebounding do make him a pretty decent option. If he makes more FT's, cuts down his fouling, and finishes a little better ...he might be able to get that net rating up even more next year.

This is a big reason why I think that we can replace Burns. 20 mpg of that net rating will now likely go to a better player. Even if the rating of the new center isn't as good, the bench production will likely go up to help compensate.

In the interest of showing the rest while I'm at it:
Overall: ------- --- Ortg --- Drtg --- Net Harris ---- 94.2 --- 102.5 --- (8.3) Carey --- 100.8 --- 102.7 --- (1.9) Pickett ---120.2 --- 101.4 --- 18.8 Camper ---111.2 --- 98.2 --- 13.0
MAAC Play: ------- --- Ortg ---- Drtg ------ Net Harris --- 104.9 --- 101.9 ----- 3.0 Carey ----- 97.0 --- 104.0 --- (7.0) Pickett --- 124.0 --- 102.7 --- 21.3 Camper -- 111.6 --- 98.0 ---- 13.6
As you can see, Carey's slump in MAAC play really hurt him...while Harris got much better.
Carey needs to cut the TOs because he's really hurting us possession wise. He's not a great rebounder, turns it over, and doesn't force enough turnovers. His net rating suffers because he simply bleeds possessions. He's got to improve that. Also, he doesn't get to the FT line enough. He's got too much talent for this to continue.

Carey's issue doesn't appear to be talent level or his handle - most of his TOs come from poor decision making while trying to make a near-impossible pass.
Cut down those easily avoidable mistakes - which I think is very doable - and his Net Rtg improves substantially.

Keep one thing in mind, Burns was 4th best "Roll" man in college basketball last season, year before that A career "role" player finished near top in college basketball as "roll" man- as long as with have The "Pick" or Pickett running that play whoever we put at Center is probably going to have a pretty good year, particularity if we can get a decent grad transfer "big" with good hands. Because of Jalen's height, shooting ability and vision he is one of best in all of college basketball at Pick and Roll- everybody knew it was coming this year and still struggled stopping it

I know of it. Problem is it's tough to find a guy so perfect for it. Burns was mobile, drew the and 1's, and made his FTs. He was destined for that role. Fisher wasn't. He was pretty inefficient actually. He just got more chances.

the hope is we can get close to Burns production by "committee", not likely 1 player to step in those shoes, at least from the offensive side....................on the flip side, we might get a little better defensively with that committee, including more rebounding..................I also want to see Carey elevate his game, or perhaps his decision making, too many bad turnovers with just mind boggling passes he attempted, that & tighten up his handle as well, because he has all maac potential imho.............

Comparing their freshmen seasons ...very similar and Jordan played on a MAAC championship team as a frosh. Jordan just has to put on some muscle and get a lot stronger! Fisher: MPG 19.7 - 5.7 PPG - FG 30.7 - 3 FG 29.6 - 81.8 FT - 1.4 RPG - 1.1 APG - 0.5 SPG King: MPG 18 - 4.7 PPG - FG 34.8 - 3 FG 37 - 91.7 FT - 1.2 RPG - 0.7. APG - 0.3 SPG

He shot 43.1% from three in MAAC play. However, he only shot 29.6% from 2. Just shoot your threes kid. Shoot your threes.
