I just have one question...not a statement just a question?
In 2009 around this time when Siena was beating Ohio State and almost beat Louisville Swine flu (H1N1) was causing major havoc (more deaths, more infected) so why did everything go on as usual and nothing bad happened?
What changed? 🤔

What changed? 🤔 It's the death rate. That virus only had 12,000 deaths out of 60 million for a rate of .0002 This one already has 5,000 and a rate of 2 to 3%. Plus, maybe we learned something and can do things to minimize the damage. if they don't let politics get in the way.

I don’t know how accurate that 2-3% mortality rate is. The 5,000 deaths may be tied to the virus; however the total number of people actually infected MAY be materially under inflated due to the lack of testing. Therefore, if we don’t know that actual or realistic number of people infected that mortality rate may be materially inflated. When this is all over, the actual mortality rate might be less than 1% (that’s assuming we’ll ever know the actual number of people infected who were never tested).

Even if it ends up being 1% that's still 50 times the death rate of h1n1. In the us 12,000 died in the first year for h1n1. Anything that can be done to delay the spread of the disease before the vaccine is available could save 100s of thousands of lives.

They are siding on the side of caution. They have no idea what the real % is. The cancellation are more in line with legal political issues than health. The demographics say the elderly and those that have existing challenges should stay away from veryone. This virus affects different demographics than H1N1. Kids are not prone but close the schools so grandparents watch the kids who are great vectors for the virus go figure. Let’s wait for the data before giving %.

So your response would be to do nothing like last time and wait until millions of people are infected? Schools are closing to slow down close contact with other people. Businesses are going to have to adapt for a month and telecommute wherever possible. The data is already out there... the rate may not be known but the deaths are real. If people follow sports lead we can all go back to our normal lives in a few months with minimal damage.,

What the experts say is that the folks who the virus affect the most be real real careful, like half the Siena fan base, all over 60, underlying medical problems. Will we reach 12k in death I certainly hope not, and I don’t know. I know personally age meds iam on I need to be careful perhaps you are, young enough you need not worry or already have it if Young and never knew it. That’s the thing we just don’t know, and for those of us outside the medical community we shouldn’t try to tell the experts what to do. Iam lucky enough where my whole family is in the medical field, surgeons, PA, RN PT and that is in plural, so Iam lucky enough, just do as Iam told and listen to them not the media.

Just got word, grandkids off for 3 weeks, asked when I had to watch, was told not now wrong demographic. Gordy I am blessed in info Iam getting, I just take the wait and see methodology as I don’t have all the facts or the facts that some ⎌people just want me to have. Not sure of your age, medical condition but just be careful and stay safe. We will work out data when it’s over.

Data provided by worldwide sources, not the media, which is just a conduit. Given the data the measures taken so far seem to make sense. Whether you choose to believe the data or not is up to you. But as you say, stay safe. A lot of fun basketball coming up.
