No joke. Can Iona participate in tournament? I’m assuming the team left yesterday and is in AC already. They sneaked out of town in the dead of the night before NewRo was locked down tight. Unfortunately, Manhattan and Fairfield made it to AC, also. 19-19 at the half:) ....

not the choice if they ban attending, of course most fans would go without hesitation............... That's my point....let people make their own decisions. It's all about running a nanny state. Fear porn. Stop trying to run people's lives. FWIW- I have no dog in the fight. Don't have tickets to the games in Albany. Just sick of the hysteria. Your dog in this fight has nothing to do with having tickets or not. Your dog in this fight is your support for your king! 😝

WTF? This virus exists. I'm not denying that. With such a long incubation period you can't stay 'on the trail' of this virus very easily. I think it's way ahead of the media and there are thousands upon thousands of unreported cases. That's all I'm saying. Stay safe & protect yourself. Only use sterile cornhole beanbags and don’t share them with anyone. A little off topic, but I cringe every time I hear the term ‘corn hole’. Shows my age. 😁

if they do in fact ban fans from Dayton, you could imagine that every other site might possibly follow that protocol..........what a disaster that would be for Albany if that were to happen.........can't even begin to comprehend not being able to attend those games............... Too much $$$ involved and that's the hypocrisy of the ivy cancellation. Only 4 teams convening, but very important to the teams. the teams are upset and angry. They know the big boy leagues will play...with fans. Why not at least play in empty gyms for a shot at the tourney. You can't ban Dayton wo banning the entire tournament. And yes, of all years for the tourney to run through msg. I hope and think this being magnified by media and the apparently healthy should mostly be safe.

The single-A MAC Tournament now closed to general public. Big West as well.

Just read an article that is advocating to cancel the NCAA tournament. Thoughts?

I think it's more likely that fans will be shut out - tournament can be held and tightly controlled - regional sites are even more of a threat than a one on one game in a neutral city in that fans from 8 other cities will come into town, party and then go home - huge threat from a virus spread viewpoint - refund the gate and the NCAA will still clean clocks from the TV/Ad revenue...

I don’t believe they have anymore basketball home games; aren’t they in their Pac10 tournament? I haven’t heard about the Pac10 cancelling fans from attending their tournament yet.

To be honest, after my bout with Lyme disease last year and the warm winter, I'm less worried about COVID-19 and more worried about mosquito and tick borne diseases this coming summer. How quickly we have forgotten about things like EEE...which may expand further. Now, you get something like that, you're really screwed. For those who survive EEE it is usually worse than a death sentence.

Anyone know how refunds work if they do close out the fans? I would assume if the NCAA closes out the fans then they would have to offer a refund. But what if Cuomo is the one that closes on the fans? Are we just screwed then?

The one in Ohio was an "ask". I would assume if the NCAA shuts out the fans we get refunds. Otherwise not.

I'd be shocked if the decision was made to play the games in empty arenas that the NCAA didn't refund the cost of the tickets. Horrible PR move not to plus the lion's share of their money comes from the TV contracts anyway. More problematic is the money that the arenas are counting on. I'm sure Albany businesses were looking forward to millions in revenue. Sucks.

It's going to be interesting to see if the NCAA caves to the growing public pressure.
