No joke. Can Iona participate in tournament? I’m assuming the team left yesterday and is in AC already. They sneaked out of town in the dead of the night before NewRo was locked down tight.

Ivy cancelled their tournament. This country is hysterical. Italy quarantined their entire country... These reactions are comparatively mild.

Ivy cancelled their tournament. This country is hysterical. Most people (who don’t have an already comprised immune system) should be able to fight it off and then their bodies would produce the antibodies to help fight it off in the future. Unless I’m not reading it correctly the death rate IS higher the the flu but which flu as there’s thousands of varieties or is it all the flu variations combined? Basically, this is not like some form of virus that kills 80%+ everyone who’s infected by it. I think it’s in the 4% or under range whereas the flu is point something of a percent. Maybe I’m just becoming numb to this 24/7 news of doom everyday. If it’s not natural disasters, wars, diseases, harassment, violence, economies, etc.. its something else to get people worrying about something. This should be a time of celebrating March Madness! Wait is March Madness a disease? I think I’m coming down with it.

But situation much worse in Italy, esp Northern Italy. Must smaller area and fewer people. I just don’t recall this hysteria for H1N1 and about 12,000 ppl died, including children. I know this is early and there are still many unknowns, but the hysteria seems a little over the top.

The reason there is a lot of concern for coronavirus vs. H1N1 is that it is nearly 200x more deadly (with the information we have so far). And it is much more communicable than SARS or MERS. This article does a decent comparison www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-compared-to-sars-swine-flu-mers-zika-2020-3

Quarantine is a preventative measure, not a curative one.
