Watching AE Vermont @ StonyBrook tonight. General doing the game.

--StonyBrook has some MEN!! Their team spends lots of time in the weight room. Giving Vermont trouble. SeaWolves have a really nice facility, and its packed for this game

--SB has a kid sitting out we wanted out of New Hartford, NY, Frankie Policelli. WEnt too high to Dayton, and left. Guess he ended up on L.I. He'll be very good for them for 3 years.

--Vermont burned Isiah Moll (now Powell) redshirt this year and started playing him on Jan 11th for some reason?? Must have had an injury upfront?

You mean you didnt go to Ualb game? I was offered seat on the court last night and turned it down. Not sure what happened to last years freshmen that were shredding the AE according to one unnamed Ualb poster, but Alb took an ass kicking on their home floor. Apparently the unnamed alb poster wants to "burn the program down" Talk about fair weather fan. Amazing other than Alb shill Wyland you hear very little about the UA men's basketball program in capital district. Their local profile has really dropped without the publicity the Siena game offered them. The AD over there really overplayed his weak hand.

I'm one that is extremely in favor of bringing back the Albany Cup game but is really amazing how quickly I've lost all interest in Albany basketball to the point that I couldn't name a player on the team. When the Albany Cup was going on I knew all the players and would attend a couple games at SEFCU a year. I'm not a Siena grad so while I hate Albany when they play Siena I root for them the rest of the year. Now I'm just ambivalent to them. Hope the Albany Cup comes back soon, is good for both programs but sure seems like Albany needs it more than Siena does.

I don't care if they ever bring the game back but if they do once every four years is enough. I have been disappointed with the replacement opponents but I think Carm will eventually change that.

Saints attendance this year is 6,150 a game, and that number has been higher over the past month. Albany's average attendance is around 2,000, and maybe a bit lower. I don't see any reason to raise the profile of the Albany program, even briefly, by playing a game against them. Might not be easy, but I have to believe that we can schedule a game against a decent opponent that would attract the same number of people that Albany would bring to the TUC. And even if a different opponent doesn't get the attendance for that game to 10K or 11K, I'd rather forgo the additional revenue. Not sure there would be that much additional revenue for Siena anyway, since I'm pretty sure that the last proposal to Albany to play at the TUC was to split the revenue 50-50.

From a business perspective, Siena is in competition with Albany. Why would Siena want to do anything to promote the name and product of a competitor? I'm perfectly happy to let them do their thing, and let Siena do its thing. Carm and his staff have a good thing going, and it's probably going to be even better next season. Siena is doing just fine without playing Albany.

Regional/cross-town rivalries are always about the fans, the energy and the money. They aren't about helping/hurting one program or the other even if it feels that way to those fans closest to the programs.

If Albany wants their fair share, the powers that be for both schools can equitably solve that in a manner that can't be argued: Split game revenue based upon each team's average paid home game attendance from the previous season and do not include the game in either teams season ticket package. Most years you'd have 10K at the game with a Siena 70/30 Albany split and a ton of buzz for both programs. Also, to prevent bullying by one program or the other when one team is up or down, sign a 10 year deal that needs to be renewed in year 8. This would also benefit the local economy.

This sort of logic is the reason Syracuse never schedules us, which is another team we should play every year

right, this game is NOT about benefiting one or the other program and until each school understands that, this game will not be played...................game should ALWAYS be played at TUC, and NOT part of either schools ticket package, if you want to go buy a ticket but stop bitching/complaining, everyone has access to all seats first come first served...........except set forth designated seating sections for students from each school...........you still get 10K+ in the building and the locals will come out.............put special "logos" on the floor to designate Albany Cup rather than Siena specific emblems..........game should never be played at SEFCU, they don't sell out now and it is joke to even consider that an option even UA can see that, put the tickets/game revenue on equal footing which is totally fair (if they feel otherwise, they are a bunch of narrow minded morons not thinking clearly).............
