Even with the injuries Iowna is dealing with I expect our Saints have a monumental task in front of them tonight. The Gals are the defending champs, who as has been pointed out are playing very well now and they will be looking for payback from the Saints W at the Knick South. Fingers crossed that our Saints will add to the home winning streak and keep the pressure on SPC for the top spot.

there is NO LOOKING PAST IONA..............the players & coaches know it, and the real fans know it........4 time defending champion, sorry this is no trap game...................plus Iona has had a TON of success in Albany over the years, playing here always seems to bring the best out of them.............that being said, I fully expect our guys to be ready right from the opening tip..................

Hard to look past the defending champs who are on a 4 game winning streak, beating their opponents by an avg of 20 points!

Shutting down Van Eyck seems to be a big factor here. They are 4-0 when he scores 8 or more points, 5-2 in games he plays 20+ (with the losses to Ohio and Princeton in OT) and 3-0 when he plays 30+ (the 3 blowouts in the 4 game winning streak). On the other hand he's had 10 games he hasn't scored a point and they are 2-8 with one of the wins in their last game against Marist which was a huge step below the prior 3 blowout wins. Let's keep him off the glass and off the line and get him out of the flow of the game. We certainly don't want to get burnt by Nikolic or Rastinovic either but the more minutes those two are playing the better.

I think they're down to something like 8 scholarship players.

That is good news for Siena then. Just don't let Nikolic or Rastinovic burn us.

I feel like KK...worried as heck tonight. On paper I think Siena is the better team but nightmares about Iona at the TUC and last year's game still burns me.
Have to come out strong and contain Agree and Crawford. Defend the three!! And make our FTs!!
Go Saints!!

Tony, have you seen any game where we took an opponent for granted? I haven't. Maybe the Cal Poly game? Other than that, they play very hard. Have they made mistakes? Yup, but they have become fewer even for the bench. Will they win? Who knows. One thing I do know is they will give it their all.

As an add on to my reply is that I fear they come out with too much emotion and not play under control. Over the years, that was the most difficult thing to control as a coach. Play your best, but let the game come to you.

I like Carm's way of thinking, its not so much about Iona- its about us. If Siena comes out and plays its game, we will win. For all the talk about Iona being way down because Cluess isnt there- I Say B/S, sure they are down slightly, they lost their best player McGill last year. But last year they had Sagarin rating of 188 ( 70.29), this year minus McGill and Cluless they have ranking of 203 and 70.01 just slightly down from last year- Iona didnt get much worse, the MAAC got better. If Siena comes out to play Siena should win

With the roster Iona puts together they need a coach to keep the players focused and disciplined, otherwise the wheels come off. I’m not big on Cluess as a “basketball coach”, Iona puts potential talent on the floor to overpower opponents. This works against MAAC like teams but come to play the big boys they get blown off the floor. I think that happens s because of low basketball IQ on the court and lack of quality game planning. I always thought of Cluess as a better personnel manager than basketball coach.
