I don't see how Siena finishes first unless they do it outright or Rider wins @ SPU on Sunday and stays in 3rd....but then if Siena gets in a tie with Rider they lose because they would have swept SPU.
It's not a good situation.

Was it you that posted the best case scenarios--- does Siena control its own destiny yet? Would need Fairfield to finish ahead of Monmouth in the standings while losing to Siena in one of their remaining games. That's amazing that nobody officially controls their own destiny. As you said Siena just needs to win. If we go 5-1 I think we'll finish first outright. SPU has been playing great but they still have Buffalo (Siena/Rider both got swept there, MU only a split) at Manhattan and host Rider and Iona. |

I doubt that site actually takes every scenario into account, it is doubtful you could actually find a scenario where Canisius could win the league. More than likely it just looks at the best record you could achieve then what the best record the other teams could achieve based on your remaining games being wins, and then looks at the direct tiebreaker. I'm trying to put together a Google Sheet that would make the tiebreakers more clear but have hit a wall at figuring out how to reference a cell to get the the name of the sheet I want to perform a VLOOKUP on. |

Best case tiebreaker scenario for Siena with St. Peter's starts with the Saints beating Iona on Wednesday and holding the tiebreaker over them. St. Peter's beat them once but still have to play them again this year.
The final standings will likely come down to the final game of the year as both Siena v. Monmouth & Iona v. St. Peter's are huge.
Bottom line - you just have to keep winning so you don't have to rely on tiebreakers.

With how close the standing are-- tie breakers and possible end of season scenario's are next to impossible. All Siena can do is win, starting tomorrow. And even with our road woes, the 3 road games are against bottom of the MAAC teams- we will be road favorites in all 3, if we cant win 2 out of 3, we dont deserve a top 2 finish- win all 3 and we more than likely finish 1st ( assuming we win tomorrow and that's a big assumption) that's why I say at this point forget the tie breakers, just win baby- one at a time. We can revisit this thread after a few road games

Peacocks still have the Western NY trip. We need them to split out there, and they end up with Iona.
WE need to win bioth home games, and only lose one road trip. We play some weak teams on the road, so its doable

We play some weak teams on the road, so its doable Plus they play Rider-- SPC has very difficult end of season schedule- they have punched way above their weight so far this year- Law of averages will come into play, They will lose at least 2 maybe 3 games rest of season Rider schedule is no walk in the park either @iona, @spc and @ff, Monmouth and Manhattan at home |

No games will not be easy-- but fact of the matter is Saints will be favored in all 3- again if you cant beat bottom of conference consistently( say at least 2 out of 3) you dont deserve top 2 finish so true...............the 3 games that really stick with us, is Yale (3 OT), Cal Poly (WTF happened) and Niagara (ahead all game but last 46 seconds)................really we should be 16-7 along with 10-4 in the league and the way we are playing now correlates to that type of record, imho.................. |
