There you have it in writing. Since they use it to drive up demand for season tickets they can't go back on their word in season. I do think they should increase the base without waiting for multiple sell outs. At the very least they should do away with doubleheaders.

The worst was looking across at the 2nd level and it had 3 sections had the curtains at least half open so there was 500 seats available. Lucky if there was 75 fans up there. So turning away, what it sounds like, hundreds of fans while hundreds of seats stared at me all game, just doesn’t make any sense. D’Arg screwed this up big time, and there’s no logical reason for it.

Small-minded AD leads to small-minded decisions. This AD hasn't made a good decision since he hired Fran McCaffrey, and many around the program feel he lucked into that hire.
I have been away for a while, actually gave up season tickets after having them when the ARC first opened to two years ago when I decided enough was enough and to spend most of the winter in South Florida where I can see mid-major to major D-I hoops on the nights I want to attend a game. I can't believe this AD has been allowed to spend all this time at Siena presiding over programs that are mediocre at best. My hope is the new president forces out all the mediocrity at the school, and starts with the athletic program. The decision to turn away fans from a program that has been terrible for the past decade should be the last straw for the AD. If Gibson cleans house, perhaps the school will again get my donations and money for season tickets. If he decides to keep the status quo, well, we will then know he is not committed to winning, but more than happy to take your revenue for season tickets.
I hope Carm turns it around. The women's coach needs to go. She has continually lost her best players to transfer because the players know they will never compete in the NCAA Tournament with Ali at the helm. She, like the AD, is mediocre on her best day and neither is very good on their worst.

Overall this a good problem to have.
I'll take the cap and better atmosphere over a few people being shut out. I think the bowl seating and cap plays a part in the home win streak.
It is also important to create a buzz for tickets, having sell outs and a demand is a great marketing strategy.

Was this quota in place when U Albany was on our schedule? If so, was the quota enforced? If it wasn’t enforced- why not since it appears there are absolutely no exceptions. You run the risk of losing more casual fans than you do of gaining season ticket holders with this short sightedness.

Nothing creates buzz around a team like “sellout!”. Puts everyone on notice to buy tickets in advance next time. Walk ups are taking their chances. Glad to see this problem back again!

It was in place when Albany was on the schedule but it was noted that the Albany game was an exception prior to the season.

There is a logical explanation.... it was stated at the beginning of the season what the cap would be, and there was no exceptions since no ualbany. This has been consistently applied since implementation... even for the Stanford game. Season Tickets are like 100 minimum... much less than the per game average. I just wish they increased the capacity since it was reached last year. Many of you wanted the atmosphere... this is the consequence. Hopefully we go back to 8,000 next season. It can be as high as 10,000 if the program sustains success.

I don't know how this marketing strategy might work out, but I can't imagine that the guy I saw leaving disappointed with 3 young boys will buy 4 season tickets to be sure they can go to a game next year. And knowing kids' schedules these days (especially those who play on school and CYO teams), it's probably hard to buy tickets too far in advance. I guess what bothered me most was that there was room for everyone who wanted to attend, they were just turned away because of an artificial cap on attendance.

We all want the same thing - a packed house with a perennial post-season tournament team. Go Saints!

I don’t know how it is going to turn out, but I have to admit, I like what I see with Carm. I’m starting to think Darg found a diamond in the rough. Typically our great players and coaches were gambles.

The biggest issue was that you had maybe 100 people upstairs and tons of empty uncovered available seats. They could have very easily accommodated any and all of the walkups.
This is partially a marketing ploy where you create an artificial demand. It’s served it’s purpose, it created a buzz, a little controversy in the process and has people talking.
Perfect storm Sunday, it happens a couple times a year. Wednesday will be back to normal 6k “ish”
Want to create a real buzz and a consistent repetitive high demand for tickets? KEEP WINNING, win more on the road, win the MAAC, win the tournament, get a bid (it’s been too long). All the rest will fall in line, everyone loves a winner. 12 - 0 at home is a great start.
Future is bright, no reason why we can’t increase local interest in the program. We just need a good consistent product.
