Also they do highlight scarcity as an incentive for buying season tickets. Can't just go back on their word on that. It's a decision for next year, not this year. They used to do 8,500, that seems like the logical next step.

Empty seats were paid seats ... student section, Keeler courtside seats, & yesterday LIA seats went unused ... and thinking upper deck is only available to season ticket holders.
People turned away came to arena to avoid Ticketmaster fees ... when was last time Siena had a sellout- 10 years ago? ... I’d probably would have done the same thing if I wasn’t a season ticket holder

Like I said before if there were 75-100 people upstairs opposite the scorers-table side it was a lot. The upper deck is always empty. I get that there may be some contractual cap at 7100 that necessitates additional staffing or whatever but Siena knew well in advance that additional tickets would probably be a distinct possibility and probably needed. Coming off 10 years of complete and utter incompetence our AD/administration strikes again. Like I said before horrible look when you’re trying to re-establish goodwill and win back fans!

I know that’s today’s world but it does make a difference for people, especially those with kids. And not sure if you get some of the discounts (Price Chopper card, etc) when you order online. That said we shouldn’t let this happen again. I can still see a cap - you don’t want ppl sitting anywhere they want in cavernous arena - but you arrange the contract so that sections can be opened with some notice without a huge financial hit to the school. Too bad they didn’t think to offer vouchers to for a future game once the game was sold out to ppl who showed up and were shut out.

Since Manhattan has a ton of area alums and always draws well here, this could have been anticipated as a game justifying removing some more of the tarps.

Agree- very bad look for a program that hasn't been very relevant since Fran's departure given the advance notice they had of the high ticket demand, the number of Manhattan alumni locally that have historically come to the arena when Manhattan visits and the increase in local interest as a result of the teams recent success and home game winning streak. Not everything should fit into the same box- adjust based on the circumstances.

I don't know how correct this is, but I was told by someone that the TU has to have so many staff for X number of attendees for insurance and for safety purposes. When they don't know the exact number of people before hand, they have the problem getting staff on short notice. It's not like turning a switch on and off. Undoubtedly there are issues like this (as HJ also pointed out), and I understand the problems that can create, but if I'm in the Ticket Office, there isn't any way I'm going to turn away a father and young child (as Scott says he saw on the first page of this thread). That's just not right. Ticket seller should talk to a supervisor, who can talk to a Siena official, if necessary. Sit the father and child with the Siena students or band. Anyplace. Maybe in the Siena suite. And there are probably other similar scenarios where some discretion can be used. We owe that father and his child an apology and some free tickets.

How difficult / expensive is an online ticket exchange? I have 3 seats and only needed 2 yesterday. I would gladly have given up the 3rd gratis to get a potential new fan in the building.

Since Manhattan has a ton of area alums and always draws well here, this could have been anticipated as a game justifying removing some more of the tarps. Kept seeing on Twitter number of available seats declining ... was obvious the day before that it was looking to be a sellout ... agree that a tarp could have been removed to handle overflow & could still made the case for a sellout ... or could have just raised the tarp in the upper deck being used for season ticket holders ... hope it was a lesson learned

This game had it all. Biggest MAAC alumni base in our area is Manhattan. 2pm on a Sunday after football is over, with a Monday holiday, and a 12 game home winning streak. Sell out not really a surprise. Again, I’m more apathetic to the Manhattan fans that decided to come up and were turned away. At least people in the 518 can go home and watch the game. Our downstate guests have the pleasure of sitting in a local watering hole they Google.🤦♂️ Hopefully on New Scotland Ave

I came off the IR after a two month absence and it was so much more fun than watching at Home. Not even close. We need to market the buzz and get 7k every game

Two Wednesday night games to close out the season... it won't be an issue as historically we'd NYU's the worst night to hold a game. Agree that the buzz will be generated to warrant an increase in seating allotment next season

I just got back from the TUC box office. I went down because we're bringing my granddaughter to the game tomorrow. The cost of the ticket thru ticket master is $18 and the cost at the window is $8. As you can see the Ticketmaster fees are ridiculous and that's why you see a lot of people waiting to buy there tickets to the game at the arena on game day instead of on line. While I was there I asked the lady if it was really as bad as I had heard about people being turned away on Sunday(Manhatten game). Her response was "probably worst". She also said she couldn't understand why they didn't open the 2nd level so "all those people" that were turn away from the game could have attended. Since They (Siena & TUC) knew several days before the game that it was going to be a sellout or close to it don't you think someone should have made plans for the usual walk-up crowd that always attends Siena games. Especially one that was on a Sunday afternoon w/o any major conflicting sporting events on TV.
