My take: The last few years stunk schedule-wise, but the team wasn't that good. There's no sense scheduling up games that can't be won.
Now that we're back to winning I can see raising the schedule. That said, it is tough scheduling up when we're winning too. Nobody wants the L. I remember in one of Fran's last years that he didn't get the final game scheduled until mid-September. I wouldn't mind seeing a Big MAaC challenge (MAC vs MAAC) but their league is way better than ours so it isn't in their interest really. Many of the Big East teams already have their annual 'down' games set. We could get on SU's schedule but they'll want a 3 or 4 for 1. This is harder than it looks.

Our scheduling has been frustrating for years.being in the northeast, we fail to take advantage of our geography. Same ol situation with the Bonnie's and maybe bucknell and Colgate. We reside in a cbb hotbed geographically, but fail year after year to provide an interesting nonconference for our fans and season ticket holders. We have the a10, mac, aac, caa, patriot, on and on....right in our back yard. Yet, we fail to play new and interesting teams that will improve out resume. For the very least: We should have a 2or3/1 with Syracuse A 2/1 with UMass, uri, and Dayton. Home and home with teams like UB, and most other mac teams. Why not? They have a very competitive and fun conference and UB, Kent st., wmu, ni, etc. Should be options. Then consider northeastern, Hofstra, and George Mason. I just touched on the potential here. The opportunities are endless given our geography and facility. Come on now... Let’s give Carm a chance to improve the schedule, but let’s also recognize reality. Our schedule is based on having 14 homes games. That allows 14 away games and entry into one multi-team event. Cal Poly was scheduled to give us a 14th home game last year. This year we scheduled American for the same reason, although it wound up finishing second in the Patriot. As things now stand, we are looking at 13 home games next year as we have to return games at Bona, Holy Cross, Bucknell, American and will play at St. Lohis in a game that is related to playing in the Advocare Invitational. That’s eight non-league games away from the TUC, which leaves only three non-league home games (Yale and two TBD).Looking at the following season, while we can expect Bona back here, whether the Bucknell and Holy Cross series are continued, we can’t get a 14th home gave from American, because we had to agree to play the second and third games in D.C. Syracuse has never played Siena in Albany. Siena played Butler, Boise State and Northern Iowa because of the Bracket Busters. While 2 for 1’s may be possible with teams like Providence and URI and Dayton, you have to play a home guarantee game (likely against a MEAC or NEC or similar opponent) to balance out the home and away slates. Is a game vs. a Delaware State worth a game vs. a URI. It,s something to think about. With Siena’s profile ascending, there may be some number of quality mid-majors willing to play home and home, like Bona, Harvard and Yale. We played Hofstra four straight years. Hopefully, that series could be revived or one could be started with Northeastern. There are no simple answers, but there are ways to improve the schedule. Given where we are, it will take some time. . But Syracuse DID play siena in Albany, and about 15,000 saw it.

I have lived in Southern Indiana for8 years and have seen some of the best basket ball of my life. I have tried to get the previous (Patsos) to schedule a game down here with one of the Missouri Valley teams (Evansvile/ Indiana St.) as part of a recruitment effort. The U of Vermont coach has had a starter ( and bench ) from here for at least 8 yrs. Compare our records. What you see at the high school level you see kids who are disciplined, are team players, who are taught how to play defense and have a good head for basketball. You will not seen great athletes necessarily who are able to do a 1 and 1/2 gainer while dunking a basketball but plays no D or cannot take care of the ball. There is a 6'10 young man (21) at Heritage Hills ,Santa Clause In. who quietly ave 20 pts., can handle the ball, is a great passer and plays great defense. He did all of that his last game against a kid who has already signed with Houston.I think scheduling in certain locations is important for recruitment.

Please,do not schedule any more low major games;is it not enough that were playing in the worst D-1 conference in the country! How far do we have to fall before someone in (charge)says enough is enough. We have a new young coach now all we need is a new direction for the program.GO SAINTS!! Our scheduling has been frustrating for years.being in the northeast, we fail to take advantage of our geography. Same ol situation with the Bonnie's and maybe bucknell and Colgate. The opportunities are endless given our geography and facility. Come on now... How many schools does it take to sign a contract before their teams will play each other? Answer is two, not one. Siena can't just take a list of schools and say "We'll play this one, this one and this one. We'll play each of them twice, with one game at the TUC, and the second game at their place". Doesn't work that way. I'm sure that there are any number of reasons why a school that Siena would like to schedule doesn't want to (or won't) play Siena , particularly at the TUC. As KnickSaint says, it takes time to build a schedule, which is usually in place at least two years in advance. All of us would like a more robust schedule, but it isn't at all easy to make that happen. Carm is handling all other aspects of the program pretty well, so no reason to believe that he won't work on the schedule, too.

Let's play UVM again so I can shut up my brother in law. Prove we are back after 7 losses, many ass-kickings.

Weve talked of Doubleheader at TUC. Would love to see Siena, Iona (even UAlbany) and those 2 from A-10. Would love to know contract situation with TUC for something like that. After we paid the building rent, seems like splitting the rent 4 ways would be worth it to attract something like that. Bet it would draw 12K+ And, no don’t think seasons ticket holders could keep their seats. But one of first offered before general public. Other schools would need an allotment of good seats if we wanted to pull that off.

Meant to say ‘split revenue’ after paying the building rent.

If we believe in carm (and I do) we need to try and start scheduling up games. I know it’s easier said than done but if he’s recruiting solid talent we need to be looking at a10 and even offer the likes of local bigs like St. John’s/Boston College a 2-1 deal. Not sure they will take it but I’d rather try for low end majors then try and play UM Baltimore or LIU Brooklyn. I agree hooligan. I have said for years that we DO NOT take advantage of our program geography and facility. Our OOC schedule has been abysmal. We messed up the Albany thing, not even talks with Syracuse, teams like UMass, URI, UB, Hofstra, northeastern, army, on and on....all in a 3-4 hr bus radius. Then, conferences as a whole like the mac, caa, Missouri valley with talented and entertaining hoops. The philly market, and yes, big boys like nova, bc, the Johnnie's, gtown. Heck, we used to have a relationship with IBM. Where did that go. We are atrocious in ooc scheduling.

We did play cuse at TUC. a year or 2 after the NC. Gmacs team and I believe the game was motivated by Craig forth being on the roster. It was a great time at TUC. not sure why we haven't revisited a 2 or 3 for 1 with cuse. Cuse plays every other lower d1 in the state. Also. We just do not take advantage of our location and facility. The caa, mac, missou valley, patriot, etc. There are a ton of interesting and talented programs to potentially see at the TUC. the schedule has been laid and stagnant. Bucknell, Bonnie's, etc ...yawn....

The problem is Pitino is now on our schedule TWICE a year. I've also been watching your posts and I don't need another troll on my ass this is a serious time for our school and our country. Careful with your words. No need for name calling and it does nothing for your credibility. I am far from that and the last time I will explain myself someone as nervous and crazy bc rick Pitino is now the head man at iona. I think iys great and some needed juice for this conference. His teams will be beatable, why not!! My contention has been with our laxed scheduling in the OOC. we reside in the most fertile cbb geographies. Go saints!

I respect him and in a moment of weakness lashed out. I don’t know why you are continuing this after last night, but it shows weakness of your own. I don’t know why I own so much acreage in your head. I thought I had seen some posts from you before that in my opinion seemed like trolling. I hope Tony takes notice. If he disagrees I apologize. I’m sorry. Late night and had a Few drinks. Stressed with Corona virus. And other GF issues. Going to bed. Apologize for my attitude. Understandable, these are strange times. Everyone seems to be on edge. Good luck and stay healthy.

No reason it cant happen again for Joe Girard, who looks like a 4 year starter, in 2023. Like Gorvy said, we drew 15,000 for that game and hopefully thats reason enough for the game to be at the TUC and not the 6,000 seat GFCC (Cool Insuring).
