I see a true combo guard, with size, that fills it up. I ll take 5 or 6 of these kids! So would I. Nobody enjoyed Carpenter signing as much as I did. I’m just saying I’d like to see him develop the PG skills a little more.

Can this thread be pinned for more posts throughout the season?

Outstanding game for Colin Golson last night. His HS team (Ferndale) beat the #5 team in the state, Flint Beecher, headlined by top 50 PG recruit Jalen Terry (originally committed to Michigan State).
Golson led the game in scoring with 20 points. Colin is #4 in white in this video. Super athletic, well-built, and a man in the paint.

I was waiting for his first game....looks to be an absolute steal!

This shorter video shows just Colin's highlights. Carm said after they first signed him that he was a steal and an absolute beast, and this video does nothing but confirm that. Love to see his strength and aggression attacking the basket here. He will have the perfect role model for his game in Manny next year. The thought of watching him and Camper play together has got me giddy already! http://instagr.am/p/B6GvbWoBmLf

Looks like he should be a big guy going to Pitt not Siena, wow, could be a great get. He didn't finish with his right hand one time in that video and seems to rely a lot on his build and athleticism. He doesn't seem to have a lot of game past 10 feet and he's only 6-6 ish. He has upside and potentially gives us a tough/athletic interior presence but it's way too soon to anoint him as anything. Opposing bigs in D1 will be bigger than him. We'll see what he develops into. I'll be happy if he's just an Abdulai Bundu type role player. I don't think he's the next Alex Franklin or Manny Camper. I've not seen anything to indicate that he's as good off the bounce.

Speaking of finishing with multiple hands:
That's one thing that Carpenter does. Very first play of this video is the most important in the whole thing.

He's got a little height advantage on Franklin and certainly has a more developed post game than Camper, and he has a weight advantage on both. So that can offset some of the athleticism advantage they had. Agree that I would like to see him finish with the right hand.

Athleticism, power and another player who can finish above the rim. If he had some of the attributes you mentioned he wouldn't be committed to Siena. That's what is so much fun about college hoops, speculating about 18 or 19 year old kids and watch how and how far they can develop. We obviously have a place for a player with these present skills. Who would have believed the kind of development that Manny has had in the past two years! Amazing!! Let's all hope we are going to again be pleasantly surprised with this young man's development.

Granted, Manny has certainly stepped things up a notch on the rebounding end but I think the rest of his game was always there since HS. Mostly, he's just being used more. And he rebounded well in HS as well, just not quite THIS well. Manny has been good at attacking and finishing 2 pt FGs since pretty much day 1.
