The best time for Siena to say yes would be at the final four or right after - when a search can begin for new head coach. Remember it was reported that Buter joined the A10- May 1,2012. And before that- denied the rumors countless times ! But the fact that D’Argenio took at trip to D.C. should tell us something !

Since this is such a wild story that I wasn’t expecting, I’ve been thinking about why Siena would even be in the mix from the perspective of the C-7, and I think we might just luck out because of geography and circumstances. It might be the perfect storm. We obviously wouldn’t normally be in this conversation, but if you look at the 11 schools listed, they are all no brainers because of hoop accomplishments, facilities and they are all Catholic institutions (except Butler, which John Feinstein said could be the logical exception and that makes sense). Every school on this list has a natural travel partner with the exception of Providence. If they look at this as a way to reign in travel expenses, especially for non revenue sports, this is how it breaks down with the schools mentioned. Mid-West Division: Marquette – DePaul Saint Louis – Butler Xavier – Dayton East Division St. John’s - Seton Hall Villanova – Georgetown Providence - ?? If they are looking to find a Catholic school with a Big East sized facility within reasonable travel distance to Providence, only Siena can fit that criteria. I would assume Mason would be blocked by Georgetown. St. Joe’s and LaSalle blocked by Villanova and those programs would have to move home games to a larger arena because LaSalle and St. Joe’s are only 4,000. . Richmond and VCU would have a better basketball profile and good facilities and make more sense basketball wise, but not Catholic schools and make the East Division an unbalanced scheduling situation. Since Siena’s attendance for MAAC games in the past is in the ballpark already with a lot of these schools, and the TUC is a great facility, that may be why we were mentioned. I’m not even going to speculate if Siena got the call if they would do this. It’s almost insane to think this could happen, but why not?

Damn I think Darg is talking about me busting his balls via twitter..but I do sign my name But he is right, it’s nothing but speculation on Feinstein’s part. People complain about paying $280 for season tickets any kind of move to a conference like that and ticket prices would double or triple even with TV revenue. The C7 will definitely happen and programs like Xavier, Butler, Dayton and St Louis will undoubtedly be the first choices. But with those programs gone, Charlotte and Temple leaving next year and Umass rumored to be going to Big East football conference, that will create openings in the A10 and several really good programs will be left. That IMHO is a much more attainable goal, and would probably only have a 10 to 20% ticket price increase. Keep that in mind any move up would come with a price -- and a good chunk of that would be made up via a increase in ticket prices

IF this were to happen the additional revenue from the league TV deal, NCAA profit sharing and corporate sponsorship would be huge. Also, you make the alumni VERY proud by being bold to make the move and giving go up dramatically. Alumni like their school to do thinks that make them proud.

Different article- -- SB Nation -- highlights Siena's "fleeting" success, includes John's denial www.vuhoops.com/catholic-7-news-analysis/2013/2/17/3999022/georgetowns-president-john-degioia-is-leading-the-catholic-7Here are some fun facts for you courtesy of yours truly: Siena has won more NCAA tournament revenue since 2005 than 4 out of 7 of the current Catholic schools (57%, includes DePaul, Seton Hall, St. John's and Providence) COMBINED. Siena has more NCAA tournament wins than all four of those teams COMBINED since 2001. Siena has more NCAA tournament wins than Providence and DePaul since 1988.

As long as we're competitive, and right now that may too much to ask!!

Tongue-in-cheek fact: Siena leads the all time series against Georgetown 4-2.

If Siena can draw @ 5-6K with its current schedule, they could easily go around 9-10K with Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's, etc. That's a lot of additional revenue. Add in TV revenue, booster increase, and other miscelaneous revenue and it's DOABLE!!

I am at a loss to understand why someone in the Siena administration has not already just picked up the phone and called someone at Georgetown, St.John's, Villanova and inquire whether there is any interest in adding the Saints, and if so on what terms.
The myopic view reflected in the linked article says volumns about Siena's poor administration and why the school's academic profile has remained stagnet.
