You can always get better players. But getting better people is also a key part of the calculation these days. I guess you'd be happy with a star that detonates the lockerroom like a Nico Clareth type. But I think Carm would rather avoid such dudes. And anyone thats still out there is a "bad dude" according to you. LOL 15 said nothing of the sort. He's saying its hard enough to win with 13 paid kids, and now we have to do it, by choice, with 10. The easy way out of that explanation is to say, "well we dont want to disrupt the team chemistry we've already created." Why assume that so many kids are problems?? No, it's not my belief that anyone that's still out there is necessarily a bad dude. It's my belief that if they've been in the portal for months without a single look, they're just not desirable players. That could be for any number of reasons, not necessarily related to disciplinary issues. Unlike HS players, every D1 coach either knows who every player in the portal is or can easily find out if they want to. None of them are falling through cracks like HS kids can. The portal is where everything coach runs to first these days. So, if you've been sitting in it since March, it's now August, and you still have no offers from any of the the 300+ schools looking for people, the problem probably is not them...it's you.

What about foreign kids for the guard spot? I see a lot of schools ar e taking foreign kids late including UCLA and Kentucky. Just a thought That's a good question. Obviously they went into the foreign market because they got Michael Evbagharu. I don't know who else is out there of that caliber. I think someone the caliber of Jayhlon Young (who's going to Memphis) was who Carm had his heart set on to succeed McCollum. But alas, such guys are out of reach. Imagine the hilarity that would ensue here if he got another frosh guard from Turkey.

That's an interesting theory, but I would advise against testing it by attempting to enter Canada without a passport. Do you similarly consider Killian Gribben not international because he attended prep school in the US and got recruited from there? He's an international student too. If you're here on a student visa, you're an international student.

Thats the thing. You have no idea if a kid like him has been offered by anyone. He's coming from a power 5 conference. Maybe he's not ready to admit he needs to listen to offers from schools like Marist & Siena. 21 yo egos think like that. Including the kid that never wanted to come to Siena, and he waited for something better, and finally got it from Memphis. Good for him. Again, this kid I found in 2 min isnt the point, but run with it. Its more about did we turn over EVERY stone to be the best team we can possibly be? And after that article we all saw, my assumption that we didnt, seems justified. Carm may want all underclasssman. Thats his choice. Its his program. At the end of the day, the results are on him. I hope it works.

Feel free to peruse his Twitter and see if you find any indication of offers: twitter.com/jbrezzzzyAnd if we assume for the sake of argument that he's got the "I'm too good for you" attitude your hypothetical suggests with his 16 total minutes of playing time his 3rd season, I think that would vindicate all the coaches who have seemingly stayed away. Jayhlon Young entered the portal in mid March, held out a bit, and accepted his Memphis offer May 3rd. That's what happens to desirable players. It was a smart move. Holding out until August - a month before classes start - would be not so smart. How many dudes with multiple valid offers have you known to do that?

Come on all, we are all Siena fans, let's not assume that everyone Carm doesn't like is the answer or that everyone he doesn't like is the devil. For all we know the AD might still have a no longer relevant policy that Siena teams can't recruit if they don't have an open scholarship. Since everyone is underclassmen on the roster, Carm would have no choice here.

As usual, you're missing the main point, but you stay on the random kid I found because 82 asked me to find any experienced big kid still available. Neither one of us knows why he left SC. I never cared why, but you keep stalking his twitter page. Maybe you'll find an answer that satisfies you. Dont forget to tell that PG from the Hoosac School, who had MULTIPLE legit offers, how dumb he was for holding out until July 29th before committing. What a moron he was huh? You asked for one, and I gave it to you, and I only found out because he's in OUR backyard. But you're right, he's probably the only one left in the country.

Plus Owens will occupy one for the 3rd straight year and our best recruit is more than likely not going to receive a waiver since he's transferring for the 2nd time. We're playing with 10 this season.

Quick question about the portal... did all the kids in the portal have a scholarship at one point? It seems like a whole lot of kids are going into the portal on the hopes of finding a better fit but end up forfeiting their current scholarship. The portal seems like a risky proposition.

Looks like Fairfield just added a 6'8" 225 senior forward from Seton Hall (he must not have talked to SF). Alexis Yetna scored 8.1ppg along with 7.6reb.
Recruiting looks like its going right into August now in this new NIL/portal landscape.
Great get for the Stags

If healthy, has a chance to be really good… first part is a big question mark though and why he’s at Fairfield and not a high major.
