So she wants to win and that won’t happen at Siena. Not a great message

So she wants to win and that won’t happen at Siena. Not a great message I didn't get the same message you seem to have gleaned from that article. All players want to win, at least I hope that's true! She wants a post season experience and realistically, her chances of doing it in a one-bid conference, playing for Siena during the upcoming season would be slim at best.

I took liberties but when a kid that good leaves so late on the year afte posting how much she enjoys her roommates and upstate etc. it makes you wonder. She probably looked around and said if I want to go to the ncaa it won’t happen at Siena and she put the word out. We lost Benitez too who was our best player. Kids generally want to win and feel like they can make the dance

Benitez left to play in the Big East at a very good academic school. Don't see the same upgrades with Maddie's move. BSG is right that the timing raises red flags at least

This and she said she wanted to play at a higher level.

I had thought she had transferred to Marquette. Sorry!

Kids generally want to win and feel like they can make the dance I get the "liberties" angle. My read of your post saw an attempt to lay blame on Maddie; linking her departure with a personal negatively voiced view of the Program's near term future. I don't believe that was her intent and, in this new age of "Fake News," I wanted to put out a different take. We seem comfortable criticizing our various coaching staffs when they fail to land a prime recruit but seem to avoid any such criticism when a head coach fails to retain a highly valued quality player, especially after having coached that player for a number of years. I personally think the "message" source originated in the head coach's out basket...

My criticisms have been of the coach and the point that we have lost our best player two out of three years is aimed straight at the coach. I have posted congratulations tweets on Twitter and am very supportive of the player. If you have read various threads you would see that fans wonder how she keeps her job while hardly winning while men’s coaches get such scrutiny. Two other players transferred too. I wonder if the school does exit interviews etc. I have never attached a player on this board and would never do that. Go back to the main bird where I questioned the direction of the women’s program last week.

I personally think the "message" source originated in the head coach's out basket... I definitely took G’s comment as an opportunity to bash Coach J, John (admin), etc. I don’t think he was bashing Maddie. He and others have expressed their displeasure with Coach J and the admin for keeping her in spite of her coaching ability, record, continued staff/player turnover, etc.. That’s their right/opinion. As for me I just keeping supporting my college teams and leave the business operation of running those teams to the college. I know my philosophy conflicts with some on this board but I don’t care. That’s the beauty of rooting for favorites teams, one doesn’t need a rational reason for doing so; therefore I can never be wrong in my choice to continue to support me favorite teams. While others who have a specific criteria for their fandom may find themselves in a contradiction if they ever deviate from their rational.

Go back to the main bird where I questioned the direction of the women’s program last week. I certainly am aware of your long standing criticism of the head coach and I share it. I guess we can agree to disagree on how I read your short post that referenced only one "she" and her desire to go to a winner and then added "Not a great message" - English is a tricky language and I did have two cups of coffee, my morning ration, prior to the initial read of the referenced post. OBTW, I don't think the current women's head coach sends messages other than the blatantly obvious one we've discussed before.
