4guysinblazers.com/rob-poole-prepares-to-make-an-impact/5171You got to love this kid. This is what I love to hear (players wanting to get better in the off-season): “Last year I wasn’t expecting all the minutes I got, but I’m certainly not gonna complain about it.” "In fact, he played in all 31 games, started six, and his 27.4 minutes per game average was second in the nation for all reserves. For Poole that experience will prove invaluable as he enters his sophomore season." “I had a lot of things to work on, that I did over the summer. I had to work on my ball handling and my strength… I went into last season 170 (lbs.) “wet” trying to go against guys 205. I definitely put in a lot of work in the weight room this summer and over the preseason.” "Head Coach Mitch Buonaguro said this of Poole." " ... Like any freshman, it took some games to get used to what we were doing” said Buonaguro, “ I expect him this year to be a real impact player. He can really shoot the ball. Last year, he was a little inconsistent, but this year we expect him to shoot in the high 30s from 3 and obviously be a double-figure scorer. ...” "Despite his carefree personality off the court, Poole has a clear drive to improve his game." “Honestly my goal is, I just want to be a real impact player at Siena. I just wanna set my mark at Siena, leave something that I want personally and I think working hard like that will let me get to that position “

He is poised for a big year. The kid's mechanics on his jump shot are textbook and it's only a matter of time before he is raining three's on the opponent. Plus he has added weight and I expect his all around game to improve. He is going to be a pleasure to watch this year.

siena site has Poole at 186. I have to say that this is one of the bigger leaps a player has made in one year that ive noticed at Siena. He still is a tad light and Im sure if you asked him he would agree but it is a heck of an off-season effort and should be noticeable in his performance this season. 9.4% increase in size is not easy.

Poole did in fact gain from his weight room effort in the off season, but last year he was listed at 176, so he gained 10 lbs, to get to 186. A significant gain. When he stated the 170 number, he could have been referencing the "170s" as compared to the "200s" of his opponents. Or maybe by the end of the season he was down to 170. In any case, a good job in the off season and his hard work paid off.

To me sometimes players add to much mass to where it takes away from their mobility especially at the guard positon. I would rather have speed and quickness than sheer power.

Mitch said at the fundraiser Friday night that Rob had practiced that day.
He also highlighted OD, Evan and Rob as the three players he is expecting to lead the team.
