MAAC is down to 30th out of 32 in the average NET rankings. I think what we will find over time is you are much better off losing by 70 to Duke than losing by 10 to an average team. Since the NET rankings cap the margin at 10 points your 70 point loss will count like a 10 point loss. In the Sagarin, which doesn't cap the margin the MAAC is in a virtual 3 way tie for the 25th conference.

Right now we are losing games no matter who the foe is. If the maac can’t beat nec teams there is no point worrying about the net.

As we well know ... doesn’t take long for a program to take a nosedive

Feel bad for Manhattan fans-- the once proud program has really fallen on hard times! Hopefully they can dump their loser coach at end of year. Masiello is killing them - anyone know how much time he has left on his contract?

They let that scumbag crawl back to them after he effed up his USF opportunity so deserve everything that's happened since. Manhattan stinks, I still think by the end of the season they turn out even worse than Monmouth.

If I were a parent, I woukdnt let my kid play for someone like him. I don’t have any kids but if I did I’d hope I wouldn’t let them play for someone like him. What kind of example/message would that send?

I’m guessing that led to his decline, although some will say he just got “lucky” in the beginning.

I’m guessing that led to his decline, although some will say he just got “lucky” in the beginning. His decline was also after the NCAA made the point of emphasis to call handchecking. The entire Manhattan system was built around completely mugging players during the press and hoping you get more turnovers than fouls.

While the MAAC sucks this year as is clearly evident from the OOC results, one stat stands out. MAAC teams have played an average of 2.5 games at home so far this season. Talk about low major. Ivy, Horizon and MAC have all played an average of 4+ games at home. Even the MEAC is at 3.3 home games and the AE is at 3.7 games. In fact, the only conference that has averaged fewer home games thus far is the SWAC.
Even in a good year, teams are going to struggle when they are playing over 70% of their games away from home.
I don't usually harp on the MAAC as I like the league and the rivalries but this year's scheduling and results are screaming a conference in decline.

MAAC needs a new commissioner. The guy has been there for 30 years. Pete Rozelle was the NFL commissioner and Ronald Reagan president when Richard Ensor was hired. Time to move on.

When you schedule like a low major, you become a low major. They have got to stop agreeing to low major home and home tournaments, to start.
