Already a D1 prospect Class of 2021 SF 6’7” Promise Opurum finished the season on a high note, he was named to the All-Tournament team. “Promise is a workaholic; he has a nonstop motor on the court. He is an excellent rebounder and shot blocker,” said the Coach. Opurum is a high academic player with a 3.7 GPA and a 1100 SAT. The forward has interest from Siena and Brown.

Tyler Whitney-Sidney (@twhitneysidney) has told me that Yale, Brown, and Richmond have been in contact a lot. He was going to take a visit to Richmond, but it got canceled because of the virus. Already has taken visits to Brown and Yale. Decision coming around September, or so.

This kid has a ton of potential. 6-4 with a 6-9 wingspan? Sheesh.
Good offers. I'd love us to land this kid, especially if Anthony Nelson doesn't materialize.

This week, 6’6” Cherif Diarra (John Bowne HS NY ’20) received some good news. The forward’s performance this season led to his first scholarship offer. “Bryant College offered Cherif,” said Wildcat’s assistant Coach Roberto Diaz. The forward also holds interest from Siena and St Peter’s.
An impact player, Diarra helped lead the Bowne Wildcats to the PSAL Queens Borough Class AA Championship. The forward finished the season with 12RPG, 2.8BPG, 3.4SPG, 3.0APG and 8.4 PPG. He has been a vital part of the past three seasons at Bowne.
Coach Diaz spoke about his player’s development. “Cherif is one of the most dynamic players at his position in NYC. He has continued to develop; he is a fighter in the post but has a unique ability to run the floor. He can shoot the perimeter shot and he has a high basketball IQ.”
Diaz elaborated on his ceiling saying, “He has the ability to pass; he was second in assists behind the starting PG. Cherif will be an impact player at the college level with his height and skill set. It is something coaches look for in today’s game.”
Like the rest of NYC, the forward, who plans to reclassify to the 2021 class, is at home in quarantine honing his skills and planning his next move.

Video of his soph season shows he has plenty of skills. He can shoot, attack and finish with contact and pass. Good size and will probably fill out even more in his senior year. A lot to like. I checked the level of competition in HS and according to MaxPreps his HS was comparable to CBA last year, both ranked in the low to mid 4000 nationally. In contract Shen was ranked 287 and Albany Academy 378 for what that is worth. I don't know what the rankings are based on.
