What a change of pace. Great to see Huerter buying into Coach Christian's philosophy and realizing an added benefit is team cohesiveness.

Heurter is someone who could take a step forward under JC.

These sentences were amazing to read...
-- While the goal was to whip the team into top condition, Thurston said it could be punishment, too. He recalled one of the first days he got to campus when a player received a disappointing grade in a class. That irritated Christian, who already wasn’t happy about the team’s effort during workouts.
“I think we ran about 16 miles in two days,’’ Thurston said. “It was one of those things where you get texts in the middle of the day after class is over and you might be taking a nap or something: ‘Get your running shoes on. Everybody’s out on the field in an hour.’ It’s like, ‘What did we do this time?' It was a lot of running.” --
We, as a team, could have the best GPA in the conference.

Heurter is someone who could take a step forward under JC. He can only go up. I hope he doesn't have that deer in the headlights look when called to break pressure with the dribble. Also needs to get a quick release, shot is very slow and awkward looking. Got beat defensively but made up for some with blocks and is decent rebounder. Role player, his weaknesses will be exposed if he plays major minutes. Sorry JMO.

Sorry, Papi, I try to stay as positive as possible, but YOUR weaknesses are exposed because you play major minutes on the Siena board, maybe if you were more of a role player yourself, there would be greater fan harmony! Sorry JMO

The "deer in the headlights" (your words) look and hesitant shot was due solely to the fact that there was, in his rearview mirror, an overweight hunter in a fancy suit ready to shoot if he deviated from the throttled back style his lazy head coach forced on many of his players. Every returning kid on this team can only go up - they must overcome playing for a phony headcoach under a system that was the subject of a five year search, get in better shape, and adjust to both a new coach/staff and REAL coaching...

Any idea when the coaches and new signings will be announced? Pretty quiet out here after a busy first few weeks after Jamion's hiring.

has anyone checked to see if Friday's room was emptied out in the middle of the night? If JC can get Sammy to buy in, he could play an important role next year. As we all witnessed over the last two years, when Sammy was on the court he typically contributed in a positive way. It was always his conditioning that held him back from becoming a bigger role player/contributor.

About time we get a coach who understands conditioning. Always thought college athletes were suppose to be in shape, especially the D1 scholarship athletes. Of course our former coach was more about making friends than doing his job, that was coaching. Made friends , yes, bending his elbow with his buddies, or taking his teams money to do so on the road. JC is a nice departure from the previous 2 coach’s. Let’s give him a chance and see what he can do.
Be interesting to see if any of the remaining players decide the system isn’t meant for them , or the new coach decides for them. F the coach decides as long as he finds them a new home it should be all good with everyone.

About time we get a coach who understands conditioning. I know right. The dry scalps and split ends of this team have been horrifying.
