Who is defending Jimmy? I see people defending the players and trying to be optimistic about the season but nobody is really defending him as a coach. People on this board seem to love to label people lovers and haters as much as society labels people liberals and conservatives. Many forget there is actually an area in between. It was the same shit with Mitch. Seriously? There are a few, look back and read a few posts. Not hard to find. I'm not going to single anyone out, but the label "haters" has been assigned by a few and on more than one occasion. I hate both labels. Don't get me started on the word 'haters'.

It was the same shit with Mitch. I agree with some of what you are saying but not all of it. There are some who actually have gone on record as saying they support everything, yes EVERYTHING, and to compound the impact of that view, they have reportedly (on this board) conveyed those exact words to all the powers to be at Siena! All of us, without exception, support the KIDS, want them to develop and win, but many of us that criticize the coach are "conveniently" lumped into the "haters of all things Siena" category thereby pulling the kids under that umbrella. It was the same shit with Mitch but his future at Siena as a HC was only seen early on by a few, shaped by what he had done years and years ago at Fairfield. Many of us saw the possibility of change given what Mitch had accomplished over his career since those early days of his career. We were labeled as "lovers" early on and as it turned out the very early naysayers had it right. JP, on the other hand, came into Siena as a very well known commodity with a current history that indicated a very likely continuation of the mediocrity he displayed at Loyola. That has been continued at Siena, to our dismay and frustration. I really believe his reported isolation of a couple of players early on in the season as a poorly disguised effort to cause a midseason transfer or two - that happening would a) give cover to his scholarship offers for unavailable slots, and b) give him an excuse as being left with fewer scholarship caliber players as we head towards the season's "All about the MAAC" pinnacle. Yeah, and again, even with Mitch there was an in between. People who may not have even liked Mitch were also labeled "lovers" just because they hated reading negative posts 24/7. Personally, I don't know what to believe about the inner goings on. We've heard a lot of rumors both true and untrue over the years about not just Jimmy. I know what I see on the court which has obviously always been "so-so". For the record, I'd love to see Manning get a chance but I just want to let the season play out and chips fall where they may. I just can't stand the constant negativity and I just hate when the board gets reduced to that.

It is sad to come across information like this, however I am sure there is more behind this than any of us know. Everything is about money and many times programs make decisions based on financial best interest. I have played and coached at the college level and know first hand these decisions must be made given budget and the best interested of the program and team. I am not by any means saying I agree with it, but I do understand why these decisions are made as tough as they may be for the student athletes. Leaving players behind is commonplace in athletics as I watched my teammates not travel with the team on bus trips due to school budgets and have also had to leave athletes behind as a coach. It sucks to be on either end. I would hope that they spoke to these athletes and explained the situation early in the season so they could prepare and hope that they are flying to be with the team because they want to be there. I will also say that I have seen the nasty things that can happen in the college athletics world. I had best friends that were not treated well given the time commitment and passion they had for playing alongside 'brothers' not just teammates. These kids were not receiving full ride scholarships. Bottom line...this happens in many programs whether we know it or not because I have seen it in every program I have been involved in. Its ugly, but lets just hope the Coaches and Admins handled it correctly which I will not comment on because I do not know. I feel terrible if kids were treated poorly on and off the court because that is unacceptable. Blah blah blah.... Good response. Well thought through! Glad you can contribute so much to this conversation.

Like i said earlier this is one of the biggest problems with a guy like Patsos, everything about him is divisive. Look at this board and posts over the past few years. I don't think things will get better until he is asked to leave. It's ashame it's come to this but unfortunately it's the reality of the situation. BTW it's not just a problem on this board I've been hearing the same rumblings at the TU for quite some time.

Sadly Nolesaint, none of what you say surprises me. This kind of crap has been going on for several years - RM's frank post-graduation comments were put down by many simply because such "telling it like it was" statements are rarely if ever seen, especially as they relate to our Program, and believing them would force people to change their views of our HC. (Very similar to the way sexual harassment allegations are currently being received by so many!) I pulled the plug on MB when I saw some player treatment that went over the edge and at times it had been witnessed by a lurking D'Arg. JP's actions are similar and in many cases much worse, IMO. Having a couple of players fly commercial while the rest of the staff and the fat cat's travel in luxury is disgusting. Why didn't some staff or admins step up. I'll stick my neck out and suggest that if the fat cat's knew that there'd be hell to pay and possibly some volunteer transfers to the commercial flights (on D'Arg's nickel of course). No one should be surprised that JP openly displays his negative feelings towards those nailed to the right end of the bench when you consider his continued, albeit poor, recruiting to fill scholarship slots that are not now understood as available. First congrats to nolasaint for his courageous post. You may be the Watergate of Siena. MP as usual a well written, insightful post. GB you spoke o me last year regarding the treatment of LaRose. Why does the admin put up with this? Only the senior officials can answer that, but this attitude just leads to the verification that the current regime at Siena is lacking in basic management skills. For the lovers, everyone here that criticizes is a fan lover of the school. We want the school to be survive into the future. I would like to see one of my grandchildren attend. But if change is not made, both academically, athletically, globally at the institution, the school may not survive . The school is basically private sector, I worked in the private sector turning organizations around. Siena needs help, with nolasaint post has to remind you of the lack of caring regarding the current sexual harassment allegations against all. Been bashed here for my constant criticism of the admin, now its coming home to roost. Sincerely hope team turns it around. Just for the record, this is nolesaints post, not nolasaint, two different posters (both long time supporters of the program).

And yet some here continue to defend this guy. Reprehensible. Who is defending Jimmy? Actually I don’t post a lot because you have already posted it. The hater label came first though and although it may not be mature the lover label does help balance it out.

I have always assumed that conduct was a bigger concern among the decision makers than substitution patterns and OOC wins and losses

Just for the record, this is nolesaints post, not nolasaint, two different posters (both long time supporters of the program). They all look a like to me. Isn't one of them 'Voice'? No idea which one. If so, I'd imagine it's whichever one usually argues with me most.

I think one of them used to be 'voice'; just to throw another wrench in the wheel.

If Jimmy were Trump, he would certainly call all of this “fake news”.
It is certainly hearsay- that does NOT mean it is untrue or incorrect.

So this is Voice's thread, the same person who said much of the same things about Mitch, if I'm not mistaken. Ok, so within that framework, I have to consider this as a somewhat biased source. Am I to think it's a coincidence that the same person keeps breaking these types of stories over and over? I get that Jimmy can be loud and I know he gets on players at times. I remember the Loyola stories and the stories about Drummond. And then there was the crazy lady on the MAAC board that claimed to be like Luke's wife and was spouting crazy stuff until somebody really official contacted WP and told him to control the situation...and she turned out to be on meds or something. But, and maybe it's my own personal bias here, I just can't always buy into these things. And maybe I'm wrong or naive, but it often feels mostly like propaganda and half truths to justify firing a struggling coach.
