Rolls on, defeats Marquette in the NCAA tournament. Sat next to a proud dad at the maacs who could barely watch the last few minutes of a final that was pretty much in hand, can only imagine what it must be like right now. Miss those days....

They take out Miami on its own floor 85-78. Advance to sweet 16 against #1 S.Carolina.

Yes Hank, I am. Because if you want to be in the business of basketball and you want to market your basketball program, Title IX says you have to have both. The distaff team budget is significant to the department and there should be a better return on investment than going to the Dance once every 16 years. Women's AAU coaches are also in the business of steering their best players to the appropriate level but EVERY kid, male or female wants to have an NCAA tournament experience if they are talented and lucky enough to get a D-1 scholarship. Sixteen years as an outsider does not put a program at the top of anyone's list.

GB, hasn't Ali had the same kind of coaching turnover and player departure issues as Jimmy although not to the same extent on the latter? And the wins aren't there. But she doesn't seem to be on the hot seat.

mjs72 That is exactly my point. Thank you. I would need to go back and check the actual Women's BBALL budget, but recall that it is a substantial enough number to warrant someone looking at return on investment.

Ali inherited the NCAA drought... with that baggage in my opinion she has increased the talent in each successive recruiting class ... next year should be her year to compete for top spot w talent she will have ... will her coaching be open to the challenge is the unanswered question

They now match Marist as the only two MAAC BBall programs to reach the Sweet 16. One more win and they'll crush Marist's empire, in a fraction of the time it took Marist. Go Lady Bobcats!!! The MAAC could use this recognition/accomplishment!!!
