Either public school guy who can retire with pension or one who can take a one year leave of absence and retain pension. The only other one would be Fruscio but he has been through this circus before

Hurley has 2 young kid. Not sure if he would take the role I think Rich would be a good choice. He is married into a Siena BALL family and would have a great support system, not for anything but me included.

Hurley would be a great coach. I just don't know if he would leave Troy for Siena with family time he would be giving up. Also would he leave to join Siena with the unknown of Patsos. Hurley is close to Fruscio and saw how that worked out.

He should just hire MTS. Every decent recruit within 5,000 miles would have rec'd at least 5 MTS tweets by the end of the day.
Although, I guess, why should you pay for what you already get for free?

I was going to look up what Hurley makes. Good chance it's more than an assistant coach with better benefits

What possible value would a local HS coach bring to the program? The Capital District is not a hot bed for recruiting D1 college basketball players. There are plenty of good, qualified and experienced assist college coaches out there who have recruiting contacts well beyond this area. I have always felt from JP's start at Siena that his assistant coaches were a weakness and is something that needs to be addressed. Hopefully JP is realizing what got it done and was acceptable at Loyola will not work or be accepted at Siena. All aspects of his coaching and how he runs his program, including the assistants that he has on his been need to be elevated to the next level. Hiring a local HS coach is not the answer.

Yes, there are plenty of good qualified and experienced assistant college coaches out there...but, IMHO they have much more to lose joining a staff that has had a revolving door EVERY YEAR and knowing that next season is pivotal with a very young team and as stated in many other places the level of talent may or may not be what we need to compete at the top tier of this league. How many qualified, experienced assistants are going to roll the dice jumping on board with the known entity in the head chair? I will leave it at that as it's lent and I am trying to be nicer.

Interestingly, Paul Vandenburgh had Manning on Monday instead of JP. Manning was very reflective reminding PV he played for JP for for yours, and then muttered a few times....'my whole coaching career has been with Jimmy' You've got to wonder if he stays with him much longer or starts his own upward trajectory. Noticed that he was the one with the clipboard during the tournament. Don't think Watson is here next year. Abe is a really good guy according to my source who knows him pretty well (guess who) and I get a feeling he relates to the guys well. I don't know the new DOB but by some of his interactions I have watched with the players, I don't think I want to. Ah P V I'd be an unhappy person if I couldn't wake up laughing at his style of a talk show with him doing 95% of the talking. Although his positions might be OK at times; his ignorance on many topics is unbelievable. I love it when he says "really is that so?" to someone who is an expert on a topic.

Well get used to it, because I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen. And this guy would bring plenty. X & O's and recruiting. AAU connections is now the most important aspect of recruiting. This guy does both well and would bring a lot to the table for us.

I hope you are wrong on that. If it is true, it will be a mistake, not add any value and will be short lived in my opinion.
