Well, Khalil had 16...and typically he's off the bench. They still outscored us off the bench but we did find a significant bench contributor.

Richard did his part. The bench led by Clank Fisher 23 minutes 1-5 shooting 2 boards, a big that shoots 28% and 19% shouldn't shoot and only rebounds when the ball falls in his lap .. yuck, Shivers (who is essentially Jimmy Paige part 2, he's not White he not as good a defender or as quick, he does shoot like him) 13 min 1 point 1 rebound. The balance of the bench is just is horrid.
Patsos roster turnover which is abysmal and shitty recruiting are the death of this team/program. Next year we'll be lucky to even get to 500, this year we probably finish around 500 give or take. Maybe we get really lucky and make a run in the MAAC good thing it's at the TU otherwise we would have no shot.
Not that I expected a win yesterday but I expected a better effort, defense was just awful.

think the effort was there last night, just out talented. That in itself should send shivers down everyones backs. If you are talking haves and have nots, in this league and this level, Siena and St Pete's are on opposite sides of the spectrum, yet siena struggles to beat them consistently and w/o doing too much research haven't been too much different record wise of late.

think the effort was there last night, just out talented. Rebounding and defense takes dirty work and takes effort SPC was clearly quicker and more athletic than us- especially when Jimmy went to bench. This team might be high-water mark in Athleticism, as next year’s team is shaping up as athletic as a typical D2 team

Drives me nuts. Also not playing help D when some one penetrates.

This could be redundant of other posts about the game but I didn't read any of them as I just finished watching the game. A few thoughts...
Death. Taxes. An L at Yanitelli. - The four game win streak preceding this game created more optimism about potentially stealing a win than probably what should have been deserved (speaking for me personally not the Siena Fan Base as a whole). For any horse racing fans out there who like to play the situational angles for a horse or trainer, if I were to look at Siena's PP I wouldn't have put a penny on it to win the race. Terrible record at Yanitelli. Terrible record on the road in general. Terrible record on short rest. Our preferred jockey was off the mount (ok so it's a bit unfair to call MW a jockey but he is our shortest starter, so let's roll with it). It all spelled doom for our Saints (DUNNE DUNNE DUNNE...)
Slow Motion - Things that were too slow: The players sliding to St. Peter's shooters. The ball movement, specifically out of the post. Reactions to rebounding or loose balls. Reactions to getting punched in the face by St. Peter's to start the game (I don't have the game log in front of me, but I believe the Peacocks started the game shooting 11-15 from the floor - yeesh). Everything was a step too slow, and you can credit that to St. Peter's being extremely active, to Siena players being slow afoot, or some combination of the two, but it was clearly an issue. 11 turnovers from our starting All-MAAC senior bigs was largely due to them slowly reacting to double teams. You need to make opponents pay for that kind of collapse.
Brett "Bully" Bisping - It wasn't a banner night for Brett, but he was playing with a real chip on his shoulder that was more evident than you usually see out of him. I think he really took on the vocal leadership role of this team last night, which was great to see. Unfortunately, he also had some poor turnovers, once again had some fouling issues (although I don't know WTF happened on that double T), and didn't rebound as well as this team needs him to in this kind of spot. He got REAL stern with Khalil after a very poor shot attempt from him in the 1st half, and I'm not saying that was the sole reason for Richards' play afterwards, but he certainly seemed to have his head on straight after that early miscue.
Khalil is our Kal-El Next Year - I've already said this a few times on this board throughout the year, but we're going to see a lot of Khalil Richards next year. If he doesn't end up being our leading scorer I'd be surprised - and I think this team will have to rely on him putting up 12-15 a night in order to compete. In a largely ho-hum game, it was nice to see him play with confidence. Some young mistakes, to be sure, but some real nice plays on the ball, too (particularly loved his hesitation spin move on the base line for the lay-up in the 2nd half).
Lavon's Recent Form - In the past five games, Lavon is averaging 15 pts, 7.6 rbs, 2.8 asts on shooting 53% FG, 45% 3FG, 76% FT, 0 DQs. More please!
Odds & Ends - Nice to see Huerter get some burn in the 1st half. Evan Fisher, for all his shortcomings, may be our best passing big (especially last night - made some smart passes out of the post, a nice skip pass at one point). Shivers and Smithen with so-so games when we needed more out of each of them. St. Peter's hit 11 3's and shot over 40% from 3 - a far cry from their abhorrent shooting night at the TUC. Let's hope they forget to pack their jump shots for the MAAC Tournament.
Holy Crap St. Peter's schedule is awful - Six games in 12 days for St. Peter's (this one being the third of six) - wow, someone in the MAAC office did them zero favors. I know what Siena's chances would be against that slate, regardless of competition...

He's had to be kind of a rock within his personal life, been through a lot over the past few years. For some that fuels the fire, for some it's a fight to keep it lit. Hard to fault him either way but it's clear a bigger presence from him would go a long way for the rest of the season.
