Good win last night! Huge game for Lavon!! They will have lots to talk about after that skirmish and maybe use it as some more motivation.
Keep it going guys!!! Beat St. Peter's!

This team has officially woke up! Did anyone else notice the espresso machine behind the Siena bench! 😉

Anyone know why Rider only had 9 players for this game? They've only dressed nine all year. That's cruel, making the rest of the team go naked.

At least the MAAC is getting national attention (AJ throwing ref to floor, Monmouth's bench, Siena/Rider brawl and phantom handshake line).

The Great:
- Lavon. He seems to be good for one of these statistical explosions each year (see last year at Canisius when he played the near perfect game).
- The three point and FT shooting. No, I don't expect this team to shoot over 50% from 3, but I loved seeing them take the 3's they did - in the flow of the offense, often from kick-out passes so the shooter was squared up to the basket, very few guarded desperation 3's (yes there were a couple of late in the shot clock 3's, but even those were mostly open). FT shooting as a team was pretty great even with Lavon missing the front end of a few 1-1's and without our at-the-line Golden Child Kadeem Smithen taking any.
- The Monster Lineup adjustment - If JP said in the pre-game interview that he was planning on playing JO, BB and EF at the same time, I might have asked D'arg to give him a breathalyzer on the spot. In reality, the monster line-up worked wonders defensively. Major props to EF for playing within himself - he hit that early 3 but never pushed the issue offensively otherwise.
- We Didn't Fight Each Other - I would never condone violence - but if you told me at the end of 2016 that Siena got into a fight during a game, I would have been convinced it was between our own players. It was at least encouraging to see this team back each other up when it literally went from push to shove.
- Connect Four (wins).
The Not-So-Great: - Battle of the boards - We ended up with the slight edge on the boards over Rider, but in reality they were extremely active on the glass and at some points it looked like that would be their key to victory.
- Sloppy Turnovers - 14 total in the game, but a few very egregious, unnecessary turnovers - Lavon's awful in-bounds pass early in the 1st half, Marquis' no-look pass to Brett on the 3 point line when Brett literally wasn't looking, sailed out of bounds (not blaming either player specifically), Kadeem's late game feet shuffle/slip when they were trying to get the ball into his hands for security and he traveled unguarded. I don't expect mistake free basketball, but those instances were beyond the pale.
- Brett's DQ trend - Frustrating when your 5th year senior isn't able to stay on the court for crunch time. I know that historically Brett hasn't had a fouling issue, and IIRC he didn't even have ANY fouls in the 1st half last night, but this was the 6th time he's fouled out of a game this year and the 5th time in the last 7 games. I just hope he can limit accumulating fouls (particularly on the offensive end) going forward.
The Sigh of relief: - Four wins in a row means that you can laugh about this instead of shake your head in disbelief. Enjoy it, folks - if anything I am pretty positive a few hundred more fairweather folks will consider going to the next home game.
"Good game, good game, good game, good game...."

Great post.If I may add subject to not so great, taking the air out of the ball. Seems only to lead to scoring droughts. Team plays better, takes better shots just moving with their normal offense. Hope the staff and JP pick up on this. Use what got you the lead. The prevent is terrible.

They managed the clock just fine the last 5 minutes. You must work the shot clock or as some of you call taking the air out of the ball. You force the team trailing to foul or let 30 seconds to burn off the clock, then when they get the ball they might force a quick shot, the odds are in your favor the milk the clock. The game ended up a 10 point win, the strategy worked to perfection.

Your comment is spot on PROVIDED the team has several plays, that have been practiced and that are designed to initiate at the 12-11-10 second mark. Just running around for 20 and then HOPING for an opportunity for a shot never works and we've seen that scenario play out live in front of us too many times.

Luckily Rider couldn't score either. These kids play better not slowing down that's the fact, as usual you press your own agenda and miss the game.

With 10 seconds left on the clock our guards were still playing catch. With one possession there was 4 seconds left and they were still passing the ball outside. They didn't know how much time was on the clock until the crowd started screaming. Better awareness is needed.

Agreed- you need to get into your offensive set at 12-15 seconds in order to get a good shot off before the shot clock. At least two instances that the guard threw the ball into JO with 4 seconds left on the clock with their big guy draped all over him and he either couldn't get a shot off or got blocked. You can't use 22 seconds of the clock and then start your offense thinking you're going to get a clean look before time expires.
