I would want to be absolutely sure that the "issues" within the team/playing group are resolved on BOTH ends before I'd risk letting him come back this year - we are trending upward and a setback of a couple of games would not be easily overcome. Glad to hear the kid is getting his academics in order, has to be helping the knee and saying the right things to whichever assistant is keeping close to him. Beyond those, he also needs to be saying the Wright things they have to hear and believe....

Has he already appeared in too many games for this to qualify as a medical red shirt year?
I apologize if this has been stated elsewhere.

Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards Yup, he's played 13 games so Siena would have to play 44 games for him to be under 30%. That would require playing every game in the MAAC Tourney, all 6 games in the NCAAs, and then throwing in 3 games in the CBI. Even if he had played a few less games I am not sure if he would be granted one since he is sitting for non-injury reasons and he was suspended earlier in the year. Quite possible they would count those games he was suspended.

I think that the chances of him returning this year are very small, and that if he returned to the team it would probably not be as a contributor, but as an opportunity to show that he has grown as a teammate.

But, no chance on a medical redshirt though they could file for a waiver if it was close.

I am going to be the one who says I think he comes back this year and comes off the bench in a more supportive role.

I am pretty sure as part of applying for the waiver that you have to provide evidence that you missed the games due to injury. Otherwise every kid you were going to redshirt you would just play in 9 or 10 games and then apply for a medical redshirt at the end of the year. There would be no point in ever using a regular redshirt.

I'm like Jack Reacher. I never go back.

ONLY when he is 100% healthy...........right now, that is very much in doubt..................and he hasn't shown that explosiveness when on the court, not to mention getting beat off the dribble quite a lot on D, obvious knee/lateral movement/lift are in question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yet Siena is doing fine without him! 🤔 Our wins in the MAAC have come against teams with a combined win pct of approx .450... We need to beat MU IC and CC. So I'll wait a bit before I say all is well. So let's no get carried away.
