It’s time for Sammy to step up. He really needs to earn 15 min a game. How does a kid go for 15/15 against Louisville athletes, but can’t get on the floor vs St Peters? IF he does make a big jump, and I’m really hoping he does, then 15-20 min a night shouldn’t be too much to ask from him this year. Sammy looked good until he got hurt last year. Wasn’t great on the glass or defensively big did a nice job in PnR looks as a roll man and finisher. And even being under 50% from the line he was still 1.4 PPS, which is a big upgrade over Fisher and where he want Burns to be. He was also hurt defensively by playing when we were at our worst defensively before we figured it out in MAAC play. He was in the best shape of his life at that point though, and I’m worried he’ll never quite get back to that after the injury and a summer (ideally Carm can push him). He is in theory a really, really good backup center and with Burns’ ability to step out, maybe against “up” competition we can give some 2-big looks. Friday really has to take a step forward for me to feel comfortable giving him more than spot minutes. Don’t really care for PPS, his scoring efficiency was only average because he got to the line so often and only hit 48%. And that’s the only area of his game that’s not a negative - he has a mediocre rebound rate, only 6 career assists (to 23 TOV), and is a non-versatile defender who doesn’t protect the rim or generate steals. Friday and Hein are the clear weak spots in our rotation IMO, we’re not going to look great in those minutes unless they can take an unexpected leap. Losing out on Webster sucks, he would have really filled a useful role, but in the games that matter I would expect our stars to play 35+ MPG anyways so it is what it is.

Keep something in mind role players are just that—they hold the fort down, No team has 10 ‘stars” Role players for Fran’s 3 peat teams Kyle Downey, Wignot , Josh Duell, Delrosa
Duell shot 40% from field , was slow on defense , never avg more than 3.9 rebounds per game, even though he was playing 20+ min his first two years at Siena 4.4 and 5.5 PPG)
Wignot played 10 and 12 min a game his first two years , avg 2.2 and 2.7 ppg , shot 28% from 3 Downey – first two years played 9.4 and 15 min per game ( both MAAC champion years ) shot 40 and 43 5 from field and 28% from 3..avg 3.5 and 5 ppg
So don’t tell me Friday can’t give us what Duel did or Hein can’t Give us Downey and or Wignot did.
Our season will go as far as our top 6 of Burns, Seymour, Camper, Carey, Pickett and guessing Harris will be our 6th man can take us—Friday and Hein just have to hold the fort down in their limited but critical minutes

You just need 7-9 to be quality role players who don't hurt you when they are in the game. 10-12 just insurance and depth is case of an injury and are ready when called upon. Nobody has all-stars 1 through 10 not name Duke and Kentucky. I think our top 6 are as good or better as anyone in the MAAC on paper.

I don't think that was a panic move or that they took someone that they didn't think could play for practice help. I know he doesn't look like much in videos but he played real minutes for a team in an up conference.

"I know he doesn't look like much in videos but he played real minutes for a team in an up conference." So will he be happy if he plays fewer minutes in a weaker conference?

Noah Hutchins is heading to IMG Academy for the upcoming season Believe Brian Nash is running the program down there. Don't think Nash and Carmen or Simon crossed paths at Siena or Fairfield, but couldn't hurt. Then again, Hutchins had ample opportunity to land at our level this year, the fact he is heading to prep would seem to indicate he will end up more like MAW.

You could be right, but depends on how he performs there to attract the big guys.

Yeah, he’s not going there to end up in the MAAC. Worst case for him is the Ivy....and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, he’s not going there to end up in the MAAC. Worst case for him is the Ivy....and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just an FYI-- IMG has been tainted with the nationwide cheating scandal concerning SAT, ACT, college prep athletes(and staff who've accepted payment to send ringers in to take tests for the athletes ) It'll be interesting to see if it affects future placement in the Ivy's

Pickett and Carey have to stay healthy to win a championship. Brian Moore and Webster can help you but they’re not saving you if you don’t have your big guns. Had Ronald Moore gotten hurt those great teams would’ve been toast too. Kenny Hasbrouck could play a few minutes at PG but the team was no where as effective. I agree with Tony...Jalen/Don probably play 30-32 minutes each...one always in the game. Hein and Harris play the other minutes at SG. Very early depth chart with the team reporting to campus a week from Sunday: PG: Pickett (32) Carey (6) Darwiche (2) SG: Carey (25) Hein (10) Harris (5) SF: Camper (17) Harris (18) Ratliff (5) PF: Seymour (25) Sutherland (10) Camper (5) C: Burns (25) Friday (12) Young (3) Most of this I agree with but 1. There's no way Camper is only playing 17 mpg, I'd guess closer to 25 and 2. there's no way Harris gets more minutes than Camper. We'll see, I could be wrong but common sense says Camper will be playing more than Harris We would have thought the same thing at this time last year if people were projecting Pickett to play double the minutes of Smithen. But it happened.

Per VC Harris signed his LOI yesterday Gary didnt sign a LOI, he verbaled to Siena after the official end of the late signing- as such Greg signed his institutional papers ( binds Siena but not Gary) right after he announced on twitter his intentions to come to Siena, Gary was excellent and returned paperwork immediately, that's why Siena officially announced Gary a few days after his verbal. Also explains why you haven't seen anything official from Siena on on Matt Hein, grad students are a bit 'tricky" even though Matt announced on Twitter hsi intention to attend Siena, Siena has no official statement on Matt, and was told because of that Carm cant even answer any questions on chat about Matt
