5'9" 175 and a guy who is more like 5'7" and a 147. BIG difference. I like Hymes. I just think there is a pretty low ceiling, especially coupled with 5'9" Brookins. Both good players, just severely undersized at this level. and playing together. Alex Franklin was a 6-4 power forward. He made up for it with athleticism. So does Hymes. The magical midget is the fastest guy in the league with the ball in his hands. He has a great handle and he can make threes from 28 feet out. He, like Moore, can break double teams by himself. That's rare, no matter what size you are. Remember when Breeden used to dribble the ball off his foot for no apparent reason in single coverage. It takes 2 or 3 guys most of the time to get in Hymes' kitchen. Unless of course, the guy's name is Brandon Hall. I think he morphs into a super hero this year. With more talent around him, I think he shines even brighter. it isnt impossible. Would like to see it. I dont think its likely, however.

I don't see anyone claiming that combo doesn't work. And as pointed about above, Chazz Williams is UMass's stud player at 5'9. I think Brookins will start at the 2, but don't expect him to play a lot of minutes there each game. He'll play 10 or so minutes a night at the 1 giving Hymes a blow.

I might have missed it but how many MAAC titles has Fairfield won? How many big games? The recipe can make you competitive at the MAAC level and lower. It wont yield a whole lot of championships or success playing up. Needham had 6'3" Colin Nickerson 6'5" Yorel Hawkins early in his career. Last year was pretty blah for the MAAC and yet a very experienced Wade and Needham still managed no title. Is your goal to just be competitive or to win championships and be able to compete with the next level? If Audu or Oliver can be an impact immediately and start, then things may be better off.

it isnt impossible. Would like to see it. I dont think its likely, however. Hymes played 40 mins a game. Had to play conservative and manage the tired legs of the entire team with his pace. With the team actually able to sub people in and out now and the team able to push the pace more, it's Hymes who benefits most. He benefits by upping his assist totals and by having more opportunities to attack the rim in transition, his strength. If he continues to shoot the three well, I could see him having an overall FG% of over 40%. He was over that most of last season anyway until he wore down at the end. He could do that and average 5+ assists a game with the better 3 pt shooting (hopefully) around him. For a PG in the MAAC, that would be pretty elite.

Ronald Moore was 5'11 155 lbs or so? If you can play, you can play.
Evan and Rahk are good enough to help Siena win a MAAC championship. There's no question in my mind. Don't underestimate their speed being a major reason why.

with plenty of low-mid major quality guards here is the most recent titles
Loyola Olson 6'4" Cormier 6'2"
St Peters Samuels 6'4" Jenkins 6'2" Leon 5'11"
Siena Jackson 6'4" Ubiles 6'7" Griffin 6'3" Downey 6'2"
Siena Hasbrouck 6'3" Jackson 6'4" Ubiles 6'7"
Siena Hasbrouck 6'3" Jackson 6'4" Ubiles 6'7"
Niagara Hodge 6'1" Nelson 6'1" Lewis 5'11"
Iona Burtt 6'1" Soliver 6'3" McCullough 6'0"
I think we have to go back to the much weaker days of the MAAC to reach a time when under 6'ers were winning titles.
It will be enough to be competitive. One of Audu or Oliver will have to achieve to be thinking titles.

How come you put Fulton in for Nick Leon? he wasn't on the team then. Actually, neither was Prescott.
Plus, RJ Williams was Loyola's PG last year and he's 5-8 too, and considerably less well rounded than Evan Hymes.
And why on earth did you leave Ronald Moore off?
Marc Brown is hands down the best PG in Siena's history and he was under 6 ft tall...

Brown was 5'11" so considerably different than 5'9 or 5'7 Yes williams was 5'8" but the guards he played around were over 6' which is my point. Also he only averaged 24.8 mins a game so they obviously went with other options for almost half the game. Brown played with a 6'1" or 6'2" Mike Brown if I remember correctly. Not to mention Jeff Robinson at 6'6"

I've stood next to Ronald Moore... he is about 5'11 on a good day My guess/hope is Mitch will use more of Audu/Oliver at SG with Hymes/Brookins as they get comfortable as the season goes on. But I do think the small backcourt can give the MAAC some major problems.

Don't underestimate their speed being a major reason why. Moore had plenty of support from 6'3" hasbrouck, 6'4 Jackson and 6'6" Ubiles having one guy out there who is stellar at what he does is fine. Having two guys out there who are pretty good at some things and not so good at others (at least right now) is a whole different ball game.

Moore also appeared to have a few inches on Brookins. Who has a few inches on Hymes.
i guess we all have differing opinions. The season will play out shortly and we will know.

way to keep it a healthy discussion/debate guys. Often these controversial topics degrade but this one is staying strong.

Saints Season Preview for yearbook. www.sienasaints.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/101912aaa.htmlBrett Bisping on the rise, early. "Of the newcomers, the Illinois native may be the most ready to contribute at the start of the season"Oliver and Audu played with and against D1 guards all year last year in prep. If Bisping is looking the best, Saints just got dynamic.

Who the hell cares who starts? All I care about is who finishes.

Looking at the way this preview is divided by position, I think they meant he's the most ready of the frontcourt newcomers he's previewed with in the "post" section - not most ready of all newcomers on the team.
