nycbuckets.com/2013/01/tempo-free-maac-more-early-season-returns/Big Apple Buckets are publishing the MAAC tempo-free stats this year. While it doesn't have too many surprises (shocker: Siena's PPP is terrible), it's interesting to see the stats and how the correlate to record/standing. Intriguing that Fairfield has been the "unluckiest" team by almost a whole loss, given that they still have a strong record. I've been more appreciative of "new" stats, specifically tempo-free, this year.

nycbuckets.com/2013/01/tempo-free-maac-one-third-of-the-way-home/Updated tempo-free stats. First paragraph of the analysis which I think is important to remember: Now that MAAC play is a third of the way in these numbers are getting more significant, with one fun caveat. The schedules have been weighted pretty funny. Loyola (MD) and Rider have played twice. So have St. Peter’s and Loyola (MD). So have Siena and Rider. So have Canisius and Fairfield. I’m not really sure what these match ups are doing to the samples, but there’s something to it. I think Fairfield will right the ship. Lots of close losses to top-half teams, and 4 of 6 games on the road so far.
