UNLV coach Chris Beard may be leading candidate at Texas Tech, but source tells me: "Don't be surprised if Jimmy Patsos is a candidiate"1045theteam.com/patsos-a-fit-at-texas-tech/Hard to believe that a Big 12 program would replace Tubby Smith with a .500 coach but who the heck knows. To tell you the truth if we didn't have any roster movement (doubtful) I would not be devastated myself. We now go live to misspractice: ![](https://media.giphy.com/media/xTiTnHXbRoaZ1B1Mo8/giphy.gif)

Per some local radio guy. Think JP has to prove he's better than a 500 MAAC coach first. This will happen this year as soon as ..... ![](http://i63.tinypic.com/64la55.png)

I find that extremely hard to believe. Hard to believe that Patsos would be considered or that MTS would not be devastated or both? ;-)

It's all Under Armour related. It's true his agent has been contacted. All this will do is help him sign that 2-year extension here.....which I'm pretty sure he did this week.

Yeah Jimmy isn't going anyplace this year but if we have a big time year (25-27 wins) and go to the dance very easily could see him bolting next year even for a similar mid-major gig. I don't know how motivated Siena will be to keep him like they tried for Fran. Despite his detractors claims if you add a big season next year to two other 20 win seasons and a CBI title - he'll have some interest out there. He's not horrible Jimmy but so-so Jimbo as some here like to call him.
I don't know how well he fits here and obviously half the fan base doesn't really like him. People worry about him reloading for 2017-18 but he might see an escape after next year anyway. Only bad thing with that is Nico would still have two years left and would hate to lose him. But no one player is bigger than the program.
Jimmy has done a good job of cleaning up Mitch's mess but we understandably want much much more than that.

I know there are detractors here and in the fan base as a whole, but I think 50% is an inflated estimate. Yes the Loyola years were tough for Patsos to start, but in the past 5 years in the MAAC Patsos' record is hardly so-so. 2012 Loyola 2nd in MAAC Win Tournament NCAA bid 24-9 2013 Loyola 2nd in MAAC Post Season bid 23-12 2014 Siena 5th in MAAC picked last CBI champion 20-18 2015 Siena 7th in MAAC serious injury issues 11-20 2016 Siena 3rd in MAAC Lose PG Post season bid 21-13 So no 1st place finishes, but 99 wins in 5 years, 2 seconds and a 3rd with two years with significant injuries to starters and still and NCAA bid and three other post season bids including one championship and that is so-so. Well if your standard is NCAAs every year I guess it is. The Siena standard is a high one, but if you want to take your chances on an unknown replacement remember the options Siena didn't go with when they hired Patsos and look at their success and tell me it is a given/lock that the next coach will surpass what Patsos has done in the MAAC the last 5 years. Perfect? Far from it, but better than so-so this far and quite possibly with better years ahead. If he wins 25 next year, that resume will get him looks for sure and rightly so, even if some here would call it a not quite good enough to be retained and want him gone. This is definitely a tough room. ;-)

Jimmy Patsos in Lubbock, Texas?
Talk about a fish out of water. Not a chance.

MTS has a better chance of being named Texas Tech coach. Just a dummy local radio guy speculating . TT isn't hiring a career 500 coach anytime soon

It is all about recruiting and development as it always has been. Gotta keep the 20+ win seasons going with some MAAC championships and post season wins. If you have coaching continuity, you have to have consistent or better results.

Spoke w/ @sienambb HC Jimmy Patsos. He says he has had no contact with @texastech. Wouldn't confirm or deny if agent has. "Happy at Siena"Patsos also said he has a 2-yr contract ext on table w/sienasaints that he is trying to work out. #sportson10I'm thinking the "source" was someone trying to help Jimmy get a better deal with Siena. The only tie he has with Texas Tech (or in that region) is Under Armor.
