Welcome to Siena Sammy Friday ( great name) I’m willing to keep an open mind on Friday, I get we were not going to get a top ranked freshmen or JuCo to come to Siena with Brett and JO here. I’m not as convinced we couldn’t get a decent transfer. But I understand they are not ‘easy” to get

If he was needed to contribute this year as a freshman, I wouldn't like this. This is clearly a '17-'18 recruit. I think he'll be a solid big for us. They don't grow on trees, these 6'8" mid-major kids. I like he's from Jersey City, and working class home. Brother, 6'3" 250 is a high major football prospect (Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, etc....) at Don Bosco Prep (NJ) going into his senior year, so I like the bloodline. He starts the year as the 5th big man on a very deep team. Next year as a sophomore, he probably starts for JO. I think it's a better move than settling for a BCS transfer that never played, and will expect to automatically when he drops down. Cancelled his trip to Holy Cross, so you know he's a good student. Dartmouth got involved late too. I do hope we keep 3 scholarships open for a very important '17 class. Vann will probably end up at UConn if they offer on his visit next week. Can't blame an in-state kid for wanting to go there. So did the In Home not convince him to visit Siena.

A little Fasig Tipton flavor here - East Coast 1 year old (Prep) colt out of Jersey City Farms, good bloodline, younger full-sibling colt projected to go to a top 100 trainer, will take main course in 2017, ...... Welcome aboard Sammy. Starting gate training starts in a few months. Your stable mates will show you the way.

Welcome to the family Sammy. Hope you can erase the doubts held by many/most of us or you may be playing for another coach at Siena by your jr year...
JP did not need to sign an obvious redshirt project right now. He should have worked his ass off to get a 4 year player to come in next year. Maybe he still will. I certainly hope so.
Based on the little bit of video I saw Friday certainly has the frame to be a very good MAAC level banger. Hope he uses his first year to improve his body, game and learn JPs system.

Amazing. A few years ago every guy who committed to Siena was a great find or sign. Let's wait and see. I was a little harsh last night. I may have misunderstood Papi's point at the time as he did make a huge generality without clarifying it and I also allowed his posting history affect my reaction. It was not fair on my part. Although he did exaggerate, I think his point was that we did tout a lot of the guys that we signed in some years past; many rightly, others were often given the benefit of the doubt. There may be questions about the level of some of the recent recruits, but I think he is saying we should give Sam the same leeway as we have most recruits in the past. MTS frequently brings up Hasbrouck's recruiting history and late signing. Either way, I apologize for jumping too quickly. Morning often brings a new perspective.

I think there needs to be some recalibration on the fans part here. This kid sounds great on paper. Siena wasn't truly involved with BCS caliber kids until Fran's 4th year after we had some NCAA wins. I think we should be ecstatic that FGCU was looking at him and that he may be somewhat under the radar. Our profile isn't what it was. We need to understand that. There are still some awesome players out there that are under the radar and the staff needs to focus on those guys. We even lost a Huerter to Maryland.
I agree 100% with HJ...if we needed an instant contributor I'd be worried but MAAC-level bigs take a year (See Bisping/RyRo/JO/etc) If this kids can come in and get some decent game time and learn from Brett and JO in practice he should be ready to go the following year. Hopefully Fisher and the Dutchman can step up as well to provide a solid front court. Keep in mind the back court is looking good and with Nico on the roster, 4 other decent guys can be all we need.

When is Jimmy naming his new assistant. Last year it dragged out forever which has to affect recruiting. There is a live period coming up and we won't be at full stength.

My brain is on overload on this topic and I have lost track. Can somebody summarize with a list of the recruits we have ‘signed’ for this year as well as next (if any)? And then list the top priorities of the ones we may still be looking at for each year? Thanks in advance.

We had 13 on scholarship for 15-16 and JO. Ryan and Imoh are graduating and Jimmy and Kinnon are leaving, putting us at 10 (with JO getting one of the ships). We have apparently awarded scholarships to Richard, Joseph and Friday, although there has not been anything official on the last two. That would bring us to 13. Since we are apparently still recruiting for an additional player to come for the 16-17 year (Vann and perhaps others), it stands to reason that there will be an additional departure (CG). Assuming that is the case, the new recruit would get a scholarship and TH would walk on for a year, as was stated when he committed. If we do not find another player, then I expect TH would get the 13th ship for the fall, leaving four for next year when we lose four seniors.

4 ships next year
1 Tommy H - 16 walk on due ship in 17 2 McLearn - if he gets his act together 3 Barry - if he accepts and walks on in 16 would get one in 17 4 ?
How's that sit for replacing Wright Brett JO & Long?
All kids with essentially very little to no D 1 interest. You think if that's how it plays out we aren't in deep trouble?
