I get that. What I can't get is why we're going down a really slippery academic quality scope. Again, I don't know the GPAs of any of the recruits, but as for Joseph, he wouldn't be the first college freshmen to have a tough first semester. That isn't always an indication that things won't/can't significantly improve going forward.

I'm sure Siena has had its fill of great student athletes and some/many who just wanted to play basketball and maybe weren't the best students. At least Siena affords the opportunity for them to obtain an education. Teachers (or Siena) can't force someone to learn if they're not interested. With that said, if we're worried about academics, shouldn't we also be worried about the non-student athletes? I don't know the answer, but how many non-athlete students do "poorly" at Siena and/or drop out before graduating? Maybe Siena needs to worry about them too? Last I checked, Siena ranks in the top 90 percentile for its student athletes graduating. That's as good or better than over 300 D1 schools, or am I missing something? From what I've read on this board, Doremus & Eddie may not have graduated Siena. For me, that doesn't make them seem less important or their storied basketball careers at Siena less important. I'm glad they chose Siena and I'm greatful to have been part (as a fan) of those NCAA & NIT victories. Those two simply fall into that 10% of student athletes who didn't graduate from Siena, that's all.

How many student athletes are the really in total? In each class the basketball team (men) count is 13. I would be interested to see more performance indicator numbers academically by team or sport. The college is in the primary business of education not basketball. These kids aren't going to the NBA and in fact if they only hold US Citizenship struggle to play in Europe. Benner man became a naturalized Swedish citizen to keep playing. Not seeing Eddie sticking anywhere and think it's pretty sad that as he approaches 30 his non existent degree in Creative Arts isn't going to do much for him. To me, that is the school failure for putting athletics before the life preparation of the student athlete. We see this from different perspectives and that's ok, I just don't like when the term student athlete is a farce as I think it degrades the majority of kids who work rearly hard in the classroom and on their chosen sport.

First, I'm giving coaching staff and admin benefit of doubt regarding JC transfers. I don't automatically assume they're poor students (or Siena's taking a slippery slope). Do I want Siena to be known as Iona or UA with all their JCs, no; but I give Siena benefit of doubt for the few they take a chance on. 90% of Siena's athletes graduate, it's posted somewhere and in TU or on Siena's website annually. I think the Siena men's basketball's rate is somewhere like 70-80% (don't remember and don't care to look it up). As I said, not every student does well or even has the interest to do well (athletes and non-athlete students). Why do we have to single out basketball players that don't necessarily want to do well or even graduate. All I'm saying is, what are the numbers of non-Siena students that don't do well or do not graduate? Once we have that number we can then find the relation (%) so we can compare non-athletes to athlete students. All I'm saying is I don't necessarily think athletes materially out number the similar ratio of non-athletes at Siena (that don't graduate or simply don't do well in school (grades)). Could be wrong.

Ithe used to be 2, not sure if it's still that but it is still limited.

Makes you wonder, right? I went to Canada for work not too long ago and was detained in customs and asked to complete Canadian income tax forms. We now have to obtain interim paperwork from our company to travel there, or if we are going to make more than two trips per year we need t I obtain a work visa.

I am retired, perhaps do a little consulting for the hell of it. No longer have to worry about being replaced for half the cost as someone your age.

Only full game I could find and it's his senior year at OCP. It looks like he played inside a lot for them on defense in the videos I have watched. Looks athletic as advertised and you see the flaws in his game as well. Legit 6'6-7 with a knack for getting out quick on the break. He is #12 in white.
