i think anyone would have been foolish to try to predict this year. Someone like MTS predicts success all the time and eventually gets to claim hes right. It was going to take a lot of pieces to fall into place for real success... AND if you allowed any of these guys to alter their picks the day that Wright went down ... you wouldve seen a LOT of changes. For some... throwing picks out there is fun year after year... for me i prefer to predict when I AM DAMN near certain of what I expect to happen. Otherwise its slinging crap against the wall. This particular win is an eye-opener. Can't agree-- look at prediction game and you'll see many got the season right..season was going as most predicted right up to Wright getting injured-- main reason why Saints kept chugging on--was emergence of Nico-- that part could not be predicted-- winning 20 games and top 4 finish was no brainer for most knowledgable fans..Now we have prospect of Quis and Nico.. great prospect for Siena fans-- not so much for rest of MAAC Jimmy's first year I predicted 17 wins we finished the regular season with 15. Last year nobody could have foresaw the implosion when Brett went down and the chemistry issues. As bad as the chemistry was last year this year it is great. People like to bust my chops but I'm more right than wrong in predictions. Sure I'm an optimistic fan but also try and be realistic too.

Wormley is an important factor. Last year if Wright had gone down it would have been a turnover city. It you think this year's team turns it over too much, look at the few times Wright was off the floor last year and project that to a full season. Wormley is more than competent at protecting the ball at the point and has stabilized the backcourt with Wright down.

Brett far from a glue guy. My pick for team MVP. Probably 1st teamer too. I resisted responding to that other post for two reasons: First, I am ALWAYS pimping Brett, and I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. Second, Brett does actually happen to act like a glue guy, along with being the team's top scorer and rebounder.

I have my understanding of what 'glue guy' is, although we may have different interpretations, but I have never considered a 'glue guy' and great player (MVP, if you will) as mutually exclusive. Apparently, Papi does.

Kenny has done very well, particularly considering that he was thrown into a much more important role when Marquis was injured. But Kenny struggled yesterday against the Iona pressure. Putting Lavon back in, and moving Kenny to the bench, with Lavon primarily handling the point, made a huge difference. Up to Kenny to bounce back and be ready for Rider on Friday.

Yes - Much of the optimism the beginning of this year was the success the team had 2 years ago late in the season. That was derailed last year with Brett and Imoh being out (obviously Imoh not a factor this year - a little of a head-scratcher to me). But we see that Brett's loss was huge. Many expected the team to go back to that success with the juniors progressing even more. So to say a lot of pieces had to fall into place, obviously that is correct, but those pieces were in place, they just had to sow themselves as a group. I don't think many expected this much out of Nico, but we thought he would be good. So, we are certainly doing better than expected with Marquis being out, but I agree, the pieces were there for overall success and that was showing itself before he went down. This team wouldn't be nearly as good without Clareth. As much as he brings on Offense...And that is something no-one outside of Wright brings...he is perhaps the best defender on the team. Had he not performed as he has...with or without Wright Siena doesn't have nearly as many wins. I agree about Nico. I thought he was going to be good but I didn't think this good, at least not this soon. I think we all appreciate what we have with him. The future is bright! I would like to mention one other thing that has helped this season. I think a lot of people have dumped on Wormley a little bit too much recently as he has had a few poor outings. I think he has been a great recruit, has shown a lot of positives in his freshman year and has been overall a plus for a developing roster. Both Kenny's and Nico's size and quickness has made a tremendous difference defensively this year for our team. When I look at our team on the court this season I'm thrilled with our overall size particularly our "new" size in our backcourt this year. Between Smithen and our other additions next year we should have a great combination of size and better foot speed in our backcourt.

Brett far from a glue guy. My pick for team MVP. Probably 1st teamer too. A glue guy is a player that does it all well. They also do things that do not necessarily show on a stat sheet or box score; things like taking charges, diving for loose balls, playing solid d, hitting big shots, setting screens etc... They are leaders both on and off the floor. Brett is the epitome of a glue guy. By no means is it a slight to refer to him as such..... Look what happened without the glue guy last year!

A glue guy is not your leading scorer, rebounder and MVP. Just my opinion.

I think the more typical concept of a glue guy is one of the lesser skilled guys that is a catalyst for the better players. Brett can be that catalyst, I just don't consider him a lesser skilled player.

thesportspost.com/the-glue-guysPatsos has refered to Brett as a glue guy. Not going to argue semantics but by definition he meets most of the criteria. I'll let you guys figure it out.

Putting Lavon back in, and moving Kenny to the bench, with Lavon primarily handling the point, made a huge difference. Up to Kenny to bounce back and be ready for Rider on Friday. Long didnt handle the ball as well Wormley did. He had five turnovers after sliding over along with some fouls. the stat lines for the two.... Wormley: 25 mins, 5 pts 4 rbs 4 asts 1 stl 3 tos 1 foul Lavon: 27 mins, 5 pts 5 rbs 2 asts 8 tos 4 fouls Lavons size for the mismatch was the main reason he stayed out there. The reason the game turned... Oliver made some key shots while English decided he was going to jack up shots from 25 feet out (and miss) to help out the usual trio of Bisping Ogunyemi and Clareth. Its interesting because the loss actually goes on Cluess. It was obvious in the post game he had expressed to his team how many threes they needed to hit to win. Well... they continued to jack them up regardless if they were "good" shots or not. in the end the lineup was "working" so i dont think Patsos wanted to tinker with it but Lavon did not have nearly one of his best games by any stretch. ESPECIALLY once he was handling the ball more. Iona is exactly what i DONT want in a team. They look like world beaters when the shots are falling... then again anyone does. But when your sole weapon is stretching the floor with threes... its very easy to have a bad when it counts the most.

Yeah, I don't care if you're Steph Curry...jacking up 30 footers early in the shot clock is stupid.
