Who is to say that if Siena needed one for the 2nd semester Cam wouldn't give his up to benefit the team/program? It has been done before and maybe it was given to Cam because they know the father can foot the bill where as it might be harder for Merrill and his family in the long run.

You guys are splitting hairs here- Jimmy gave a scholarship to a walk on ( to a coaching buddy’s son) and hey that’s fine it’s the 13th scholarship, just don’t want to hear Jimmy complain he doesn’t have enough talent again ( like he has said the last 2 years) By using scholarship now it precludes a mid-season transfer. When was the last time Siena had a midyear transfer? Griffin?

I don't know that we would hear that complaint this year. We might lack toughness or we might be young at certain positions, but at this point, this is Patsos' roster. He recruited the majority of the players. He re-recruited Silas and Bisping (who don't necessarily fit his system, but they're talented and so you work with what you've got), leaving Ryan Oliver as literally the only player that Jimmy didn't have a hand in picking.

And answer to that is several times at Loyola ( a tougher academic school than Siena)

I hope you're right- no reason why we shouldn't expect top 3 or 4 finish in MAAC

I agree w/splitting hairs part. I was originally upset over the "deal" from the beginning. I'm accepting it more now,, since there's nothing we can do about it. Just hope he deserves it (talent wise). I'm not expecting D1 talent that we're hoping simeone comes in and starts, rather I'm ok if he's simply D1 talent at any college level. We'll find out this yr. then I can be happy or go back to being upset (even though I still wouldn't be able to do anything about it).

Regarding the Kimmy complaining part, I don't think that'll ever change. That's just Jimmy & how he communicates. I get it that some/many don't care for it, but we should get used to it because that's just Jimmy. Just like it was Orr that always praised God in his talks with media. That hit old real fast too but people were less critical due to the subject matter. Some atheists or agnostics might have taken offense. BTW, I'm an atheist, swear to God.

A very few (1 or 2) have said they have seen Cam play (practice actually) and he doesn't have in their opinion D1 talent, yet he played on a very high level AAU team. Did he "play" on the AAU team or was he like 9th man? If he played why should anyone think he doesn't have D1 potential? Give the kid a chance to fall flat or shine, or just contribute when he can. The fact is, he is a scholarship Siena Saint and deserves everyone's support, just like any other Saint. Let's see what he can do before passing judgment.

Or.....the "high AAU" coach gladly took on the kid of an ACC head coach, so his kids could have an inside connection on scholarship opportunities.

I love how you more often than not have a completely different view and it usually makes more sense than the original when you really think about it. Your posts remind me of Paul Harvey's famous quote "And now you know the rest of the story...."

And answer to that is several times at Loyola ( a tougher academic school than Siena) The point is that Siena has done quite fine without mid season transfers. The last one they got Griffin wasn't an All-MAAC player. The bigger issue is not giving the scholarship in August instead of now as there's plenty of talent that isn't committed for the fall yet.

Your posts remind me of Paul Harvey's famous quote "And now you know the rest of the story...." A fair question might be, was he in the playing rotation on his AAU team? Was he any good? I think there is a whole lot of judging going on without a whole lot of facts in hand. Maybe it is as HJ and others hypothesize, or maybe they just have an agenda. I'll ask again, anyone know if the kid was any good in AAU? Paul Harvey's broadcasts were factual, I don't see any connection between HJ's post and fact, maybe it is just me.

A few things I don’t want to keep beating this dead horse- Cam has a scholarship and we wish him the best I will indulge you one last time and answer your questions Several D2 and D3 level players play on high level AAU team. All playing on High level AAU team does is guarantee you exposure – Cam was seen by 350 D1 programs and Jimmy was only one to offer a ship And don’t think if a kid is D2 or D3 he cant play- cause they can Listen several people have seen Cam play- he is very similar to Coner Fenlon ( a little bigger and stronger) but athletically very similar- I'm going to close this thread because Basically Hockey guy is saying prove me wrong- I have no desire to bad mouth Cam-- and I'm sure HJ doesn't , MP doesnt , Green blood, Saintsfan,KS,Indian saint and several others that have seen Cam play - we all to a man wish him the best
