IS - the simpler way to put it is UA is trending up in attendance/support while Siena is, sadly, trending down. We can put a point of inflection in our trend line if we hold "court" this season, especially with a win over the Danes.

Siena's season ticket holders are a dedicated group when it comes to supporting the program;not so much when it comes to actually showing up for games when they cannot win at home.As far as attendance is concerned I was really thinking of last year when I started noticing more fans at U Albany games towards the the end of the year and wonder if Siena fans may be a reason for this as we are all fans of basketball.

I tried to use tending by the "sort of" comment. But, I get yours & James comment. Just that within both UAs &Siena's trends are the ups & downs. Siena's overall % decrease isn't that bad and UAs trending % increase over the past 4-5 yrs isn't that great. But, yes I agree both trending as James implied. I try not to challenge "worse" as things can always get worse. Just when you think things can't get any more worse, they do. That's why I subscribe to things will hopefully get better (even if they don't). It just helps me cope better, that's all. I tried to find some positive in Siena's attendance figures and did, as I also found some negative info for UA. Win-win for me.

Thats one of the things that surprised me the most about the continuation of the UA/Siena series - almost nothing in it for Siena-- UA got the satisfaction knowing Siena caved- and the fact there will be limited seats available for sefcu games will help drive UA season ticket sales- not sure who wanted this game more Darg or Jimmy-- but I see very little good from Siena side and a mountain of good from UA

Siena fans attending UA games. Traitors! Are they going to be outed & banned from the forum? Hoping the three happy faces let's everyone know I'm kidding before I get blasted from the sarcasm police/auditors. It's hard for me to do sarcasm over the forum; something gets lost in translation.

Albany was drawing over 3K towards the end of last season. The SBU game in February had 3,800 fans there. I went to the Albany-SBU game, 4 packs of tickets were $20. Exactly. It's $5 to get in their games, and it's $30+ to sit sidelines at ours. Do the math.

Now that I think about it, I think the four packs were even cheaper than that cause people were getting pissed that it cost more to buy two tickets than to buy four. So who knows how many of those 3,800 were people who bought four tickets rather than paying more for two.

Staying steady is a trend as well as going up or down.

After we beat them the next three years, the next deal is all TU or we walk away.

Whether or not they would admit it, I think many of the Albany fans generally enjoy going to the big arena where they can drink beers in their seats and go out to a nice restaurant/bar before and/or after the game. Now that this deal has placated their inferiority complex they will be there. The casual Albany fans are going to be the ones that get shut out of the SEFCU game anyways so they will be even more hungry to be able to go when it is at the TUC.

I'll go further than that-- most UA fans enjoy the TUC.( I work with several) and of course have several friends that are Die hard UA fans.. there is a small minority of fans like click clack and Bob87( among several others) that are very vocal in their opposition to TUC -- and I think the UA AD will hear from them when several get frozen out of game-

Here is my understanding of the 2017-18 tournament set-up that Siena and Albany will play in: Siena, Albany and a third team TBD will play two games at the high major participants. Siena, Albany and the third team will play a round robin with each team playing one game at home. Siena's home game will be vs. Albany and its road game will be vs. the team TBD. Albany will play at Siena and home vs. the team TBD. The two high majors will meet at the Barclay Center or MSG. All five teams get four games. Presumably, the guaranties will be larger than in the 2015 event because each of the two high majors gets three home games instead of two.
The Albany game in 2017-18 will be a 15th home game. It will be sold separately from the 14-game season ticket package but will be available to all Siena season ticket holders before the game goes on sale to the anyone else. Siena keeps all revenue.

So for anyone who cares about the math, even ignoring the two up games, Siena is giving two road games (one at Albany and one at TBD) for two home games against Albany, this is really a pretty bad deal.
