Highly doubt he's leaving Siena for the patriot league. A-10 seems most likely. Wasn't he recruited by Buffalo? Leaving Albany to go to buffalo - that's a change alright! And closer to family in NYC! Lol Not suggesting it will happen, but players often transfer to another school that recruited them. I guess everyone is accepting the PR change of scenery explanation?

I can easily imagine there are multiple reasons for him to want to move on.
JO is a soft spoken, somewhat laid back kid. JP is a loud, bombastic coach. It seemed to me that Jimmy did not focus much of his wrath in JO's direction, which I'm guessing was no accident. Still, that personality contrast may have been stressful for JO.
No question that JO was helped a lot by this staff in general, with the Euro tour as a highlight.
JO really came on this season, and I expect he will come back with an extra year of development under his belt and be a big part of the plan wherever he lands.

Just perusing some photos from the meet and greet. This group was hanging together in the back. Could be a factor that his buddies are now gone? Attachments:

Best of luck to JO. Hope he lands in a good spot and makes the most of it. Would have liked to see him finish out at Siena.

I will add- this is very odd ! Especially when the kid improved soo much in the last year-and was going to start!
Makes you wonder .. If anyone is whispering shit advice in this kids ear! For their own selfish reasons!

Whatever reason this is happening.... I would just like to see a few months pass without something damaging to the program. Its like a black cloud just hovering over it.

I liked JO's interior scoring ability. He was efficient inside though not yet dominant. He kept the TOs to a minimum and he was really starting to block a lot of shots. Before this past year though, JO was actually an afterthought. He has the worst rebound rate of the bigs. And it's not like he had Anosike or RyRo next to him that he had to fight for boards with. This is a set back for sure but not the end of the world. If Bisping and Silas are healthy, we probably won't even notice....well, we'll notice..but it hopefully won't be as bad as most think. Brandwijk was just a frosh and could take a big leap forward. He has more that Wignot energy that, at times, was a real defensive spark plug last year. I really look forward to his sophomore jump. If it's anywhere near Bisping's and JOs...we'll be pretty well off. Now Fisher will get some actual time while he learns the D1 ropes. 4 Star Rating on this post. JO was a good soph, MAAC player, but not a "final 4" soph, and by most accounts a great kid and a good student, so in that regard a real loss. As far as the program, I actually expected him to be gone before White or Wolfe. JP needs to hit at least a triple with an inside recruit with this ship... but I don't think that overall this is as devastating as some have written.

I don't think Patsos is any more confrontational than Fran was. I think you are down on JP and lack any objectivity at this point. The team has a lousy record, like it or not, this team isn't that talented. The loss of JO, while not wanted, is manageable and possibly may be a blessing. Wouldn't go so far as blessing but lets face it nobody and I mean n obody is irreplaceable off a team that lost 20 games. For oneindian - this does hurt. I like JO a lot and he was our most improved player last year. But depth up front IS a strength. A lot of pressure now on Brandwijk to make the jump JO did his sophomore year. Hopefully Imoh's getting healthy. I know Brett is already back on the court. This opens the door for Evan Fisher - hope he is ready for the challenge! But we don't know who or even if he will be replaced with. Javion was an increasing asset to this team. This was a considerable loss. I wish him well.

Maybe he was aware of the sought after ( at least here) "staff shakeup" and decided enough is enough? Can this season get any worse?
