No spinning this-- it’s a bad loss to lose a local kid that plays and projects to be one of if not the best Big in MAAC next season. Agree that Imoh is fine- problem is Imoh has never been able to stay on floor more than 16min game without fouling out- so we are considerably weaker without JO—never good for a team to lose one of their better players coming off a 11-20 season This is a big blow towards getting a top 4 finish – not impossible but now we have two ships to give- not confident current staff will land an “up” recruit.. Probably spin it that Gottfried is better than any recruit or transfer..LOL Getting another quality big at this level in the late period just doesn't usually happen. Likely, we have to make do with what we have and try to find a guard. It hurts for sure. We saw last year how fast the depth can get whittled away.

Who really knows how this went down. Maybe JO just thought PT would be tougher to come by with Silas/Bisping back plus with another big (Fisher) joining the team. I'm not minimizing the loss. It hurts for sure. Maybe I am rationalizing why he choose to leave rather than to just attack Jimmy on it. But he is the head coach and has to be held accountable like all of his predecessors have been. We just can't have anymore transfers.
Cole, Wolfe, White and JO - that will get a coach in big trouble if it doesn't stop. Hopper and Audu are NOT on Jimmy however.

A couple of things really bother me:
1 we are relying on 2 guys coming off fairly bad injuries
2 where there's smoke there's fire, meaning is JO the last to bolt or is there more trouble to follow? Just sayin' because I have a funny feeling based on the teams dynamics last year that not all was well in Mudville.

Was an 11 win team....JO was good but really we stunk with him, need athletic wing bad.
Wish him the best

Cobb going to FF is heartbreaking to me on that front. He was the best available NERR guy.

Funny - now you say its a guards/wing league and we'll be ok losing our currently best 5. Last season we were lousy because we lost two bigs. Will you stop spinning, you are making us dizzy. MP, no one is saying this is a good thing. I'm not one to stick up for MTS but really, Siena is not in that bad of shape. It still will come down to guard play. We still have the bigs to compete in this conference. Yeah, it hurts, but it's not the end of the world. We still have the frontcourt experience and individual skills for it to be a strength within the conference this year. JO hardly played when Siena won the 20 games and his FG% was sub 32%. Siena's D was 78th then and 333rd this past year. JO didn't draw charges, steal the ball, or rebound. His one good defensive skill was shot blocking. He plays soft. We still have all the skills he had and more on the roster. We just need to hope guys stay healthy and that we get good wing play. That's it. There is not one skill JO had that was the best on the roster. He had a good combo of skills but he wasn't the best at any one thing. if this was the only thing that happened it would be ok. It is far from it. It is more of the same, and consistent with coach's tenure throughout his career.

@marksingelais: Troy High coach Rich Hurley on Javion Ogunyemi:"He wanted a chance to go away and get out of the Capital District and see what’s out there."
Legitimate reason ... Wonder if his mother's illness factored into his initial decision to stay close ... Hope he lands in a good place

Everyone is going into Mitch mode. I have not been fond of all the decisions made to date but I still see a team that has potential. JP has a decent core to work with. He's got some potential in the frosh. It is counter productive to get negative on the coach especially during a recruiting period.

We'll be fine. But no excuses next year. Time to Jimmy to get us contending for the MAAC championship!!

This freaking staff better not rest on their laurels of landing a few good recruits already in this class. They have 2 ships to give an better get a killer 3 & 5 NO more lazy recruiting! There have been coaches let go with more to come so plenty of signees will be approachable.
Staff also must learn to adjust to the talent and personalities they have in the program and manage the young men and games accordingly!
As you can probably tell - IMHO this is a B A D sign......
