This is the land of delusion. The A-10 wasn't close. The admins threw out a line and the Siena fanbase got hooked like a huge marlin. The belief that you think the invite was close is all they need for you to keep renewing and donating thinking it is coming around again. Just brilliant propoganda from the Siena administration. Kudos to them. You nervous? Quaking in my boots. Do teams that are in Year 6 of relods normally get bumped to higher conferences?

Quaking in my boots. Do teams that are in Year 6 of relods normally get bumped to higher conferences? Relax, there is absolutely no chance in hell that Canisius would EVER find itself getting "bumped to higher conferences"! Keep your boots handy, your winters of discontent (both on and off the court) is no where near an end. OBTW, thanks for keeping such close tabs on all things Siena - unusual yes, but very helpful to those of us who, having graduated from Siena ('64), have interest but also have lives and can't devote as much time and effort as you do. Your summaries are great - a little skewed but at least they address current subjects if not the real meat of the story. Sort of like having a Golden Googler simplifying searches. Keep up the good work. Go Griffs - the farther the better, as in off the Falls.

Quaking in my boots. Do teams that are in Year 6 of relods normally get bumped to higher conferences? Actually, contrary to what most here believe, moving up has little to do with winning. SMU, Tulane, ECU, weren't winning before joining AAC this year. TCU wasn't winning before joining Big 12.Rutgers doesn't win anywhere. ODU was horrible before joining CUSA last year but got their first ever Top 25 ranking this year. Plenty more examples out there.

Those schools have money, but weren't winning. Siena has neither the money nor the winning.

What I don't understand is why you even care about what Siena does. What could it possibly matter to you? And if you don't care, why waste your time arguing with some of our fans on a Siena hoops board over what many deem to be a moot point? Fact is that Siena consistently has the largest active fan base in the MAAC ("active" meaning season ticket holders and number of people at home games), and it isn't even close. This year (not counting the game with Albany that had a crowd of 10, 278), Siena is averaging just under 6,000 fans a game (5,969). That's five times as many people that go to Canisius games at Koessler (1,181 average for eight games); we can add in the crowd of 7,191 for the game with Univ. of Buffalo at the First Niagara Center if you want, and that will bring the average attendance at all Canisius games to 1,850. I know that the Buffalo area has pro sports to offer (football and hockey), but it seems that there just isn't much interest in Griffins basketball, even over the past few years when they've had really good teams (thank God that Bill Baron transferred in when his dad took the coaching job there). And that's too bad, but why take out your frustrations on us over here? If we want to amuse ourselves with thoughts/dreams of playing in a higher-level conference, just let us be. Most of us are realists, but it doesn't hurt you if we fantasize a bit, does it? We may be delusional, but some of that delusion is based on fairly recent history when Siena won three consecutive MAAC Championships (and was within thirty seconds or so of preceding those three with what a win that would have made it four in a row), followed by two first-round wins in the NCAA Tournament (and came within a shot of making that three first-round wins in a row). You (and Canisius) might be better served if you were to devote your time and energy to improving the Griffs' program and their NCAA Tournament prospects instead of hanging around over here picking on us while our Saints fight their way back to the top of the MAAC.

I guess you misunderstand what the purpose of a message board is. Not sure what more to tell you.

You said Siena didn't have the money ( you were proven wrong) you said the expansion plans were on indefinite hold- once again you were proven wrong . Not sure where you come off were your delusional talk the invite wasn't close, might be your opinion but don’t try and pass it off as fact, because once again you’re wrong. Unless you can back something up, please refrain from your baseless accusations you are famous for—won’t fly here.. Post that crap on MAAC board, Siena board isn’t the place for your fantasy thoughts.. hell I dont even know why you are re hashing this crap, its not even a topic of conversation over here - other than Amedio's wacky article

And imagine me posting in the Amedio thread about the Amedio article. How out of line of me.
Siena doesn't have the money. Raising money for capital projects doesn't disprove that. Canisius just finished raising 100MM. We don't have the money. Doing the difficult math that's twice the amount Siena was trying to raise.
You certainly have nothing but conjecture. I'd ask you to provide your "proof," but you have none.
I'm under your skin so much you have to edit my screenames. I'm renting space free of charge in your heads. And you know I'm right.

A-10 here we come Canisius is lucky to be in the Maac. I think Siena wants and needs to be in a conference with a better fan base. Why are you so jealous?

Why are you so jealous? Lucky? You mean the team that was in the conference before Siena? I play in the sandbox of reality. I ask you to join. Siena has had more success than Canisius in the last 25 years. I know it. Am I supposed to root for Siena then? So what am I jealous of?

I can at least admit when I've made a mistake. Still waiting for your recanting on your "reloading." Still doesn't make Canisius "lucky" to be in a conference with Siena.

No one is going anywhere til the big realign. Not sure football is the answer for moving up for UA. Sport going through transition on college level in terms of expense. Look at the program 150 mIles west. Unfortunately UA just doesn't have the fan base to draw on. State and univ system becoming fiscally strapped. Sign of the times not reflection on program. Siena will wait out realignment, hopefully reduce entrance costs.
