he needs to stop with the "teams respect the MAAC and would rather play someone else." They respect siena and the fact they are on the upswing again. They do NOT respect the MAAC

A few highlights:
- (I see MTS mentioned this in another thread, too): Siena will play 2 of the four "seeded" teams in the 2K tournament, so two of VCU, Duke, Georgetown, or Wisconsin. Then, they'll play two unseeded teams at Bryant.
- Said people need to temper expectactions on Cole, that he's currently our 10th man. (While this may be true, I looooove Jimmy's pre-season depth charts. They're more volatile than penny stocks).
- He said Starting 5 (established) then 6. Oliver 7. Hymes 8. Silas 9. White 10. Cole
- Freshman are coming along. Jimmy Paige starting to "get it".

Cole still having trouble turning the ball over and missing jumpers?
Come on Jimmy Paige! Let's get another shooter in there!

Typical coach talk, when you have a losing record and need excuses then Cole is the best player on your team and isn't eligible. Once he's eligible now we need to temper our expectations and he's the 10th man.

I get what you're saying when you are rebuilding the program you might hype someone up but even Poole (who is not worried about those things) said Cole was the best player on the team last year. It may be hyperbole but Cole is talented. You don't light up a bunch of BCS teams as a true freshman if you aren't a talented player. He needs to buy into the team and cut down on his mistakes and I'm sure he is going to be an important player for Siena in Jimmy's rotation which will likely consist of 9 main players.

MTS, seriously. The kid has some fancy moves but he's wild. Oliver is controlled. Hymes is a proven senior in this league and the fastest guy in the league. Even I have thought Hymes' mins are going down this year in Cole's favor but perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe Cole is just the same guy he was at Coppin which shouldn't really be that much of a surprise to anyone. It could be still all about potential at this point. Patsos is right, he's transferring up, not down. And it shouldn't be a surprise if perhaps the 2 frosh leap frog him. Paige and WB have shooting touch AND toughness. And from what I've seen in video...good court IQ. They just started practicing. Think of past years frosh and what the coach said 1st week of practice. These guys could be lighting up practice a month from now after they've adjusted some. Guys who take care of the ball and play within themselves often rise to the top. Paige had a positive assist ratio as a frosh in HS..per maxpreps. He didn't seem turnover prone in his AAU stats either. He's super strong. He can shoot. He's athletic. A month from now the guy could have passed quite a few on the depth chart. Paige being good enough to surpass Cole and others will be nothing but good for this team. It always takes a month for the coaches to whip the frosh into amping up their motors from HS ball. I do NOT want to have to redshirt him. Notice Patsos also said Silas has started to play well. It takes him a month just to get out of bed. A month from now he could be dominating JO in the paint. You don't know. Like I said last week. It's sooo early.

Cole not at practice today Assistant Coaches wouldn't comment on his status. Lavon still nursing injury.

It is early-- but by now they have been playing 6 weeks. WB and Paige will get better-- WB will make the playing group, Paige has a way to go, and its not a bad reflection on him, its more or less the 3 players ahead of him. Not sure how it will go, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if Paige makes playing group- he has a way to go- but he is a freshmen. Cole is somewhere in between, he isn’t the savior, and he isn’t the 10th man. Key to Patrick is taking care of the ball, if he does he will get a lot of time because of his versatility. Patrick does things nobody else on team can do, but that won’t matter if he can’t take care of ball. The interesting battle is between Oliver and White—both are playing extremely well. Mo is now bigger and stronger than Ryan, better off the bounce and better defender, Ryan is a better shooter that doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. As for JO and Silas—that battle is over JO is flat out better. Silas has to stop the silly fouls and turning the ball over ( which he does with alarming regularity in practice) JO is bigger stronger than Silas now and better rebounder – and for same reason why I think Oliver will get more time, JO doesn’t make the mistakes Silas does.

Sorry, not buying it. I also predict that Paige will supplant one of those listed players in the rotation due to his sorely needed 3 point shooting.

Mark Singelais @marksingelais · 2h 2 hours ago Siena's Lavon Long (groin) and Patrick Cole (personal reasons) didn't practice today. Both could return Friday. #sienasaints
New MAAC supervisor of officials Mike Kitts is coming to Siena's practice tomorrow to talk to Saints about rules. #sienasaints
Hopefully holding Lavon is out is just a precaution. The preseason is longer now than it was in previous years. How often do we practice? I believe I read something about the NCAA allows you 30 practices from October 3rd until the season starts? Is that correct?

Lavon has to see the doctor before they will clear him. That will be tomorrow. He says the pain is less each day.

If JO has truly turned a corner and learned to rebound, he'll probably stay ahead of Silas. I'm just making a point. Things change very quickly. Patsos is not going to stray from his 'CBI safety blanket' rotation until he has confidence in others, in actual games.
