th24 - why don't you share with us the way you would impose a travel ban. Which countries/airlines would be excluded from sending flights to the US? How would you control the origin of passengers on all flights coming to the US, e.g., how would you stop a traveler that left Liberia for Brussels, flew from Brussels to London, Lon7don to Montreal and then from Montreal to Washington. Trust me, someone who is bound to return to the US would take such a circuitous route to avoid a travel ban that controlled only flights from Liberia to Washington. I'm not much of a traveller but don't we already check the passport of everybody entering the country when they arrive? And doesn't that tell the country of origin? Not foolproof but wouldn't that catch a good portion. And we can certainly ban flights that originate from certain airports. Maybe I'm naive but it doesnt sound that difficult. yes, passports are checked but not the visa stamped pages - they just look at your citizenship info and passport effective dates. The visa stamps (not sure what they are technically called) are placed by countries at the time of entry and are not in chronological order. To effect a ban, the country of last departure before US entry would have to be the "traffic cop" and prevent boarding. Absent that, the US would need to hold people and then "deport" them on arrival if they met the "ban" restrictions yet landed here. A US traveller that was in west africa and then flew to Europe (the normal route) might linger in that country for some undeteremined time before returning to the states. If that person were infected, running a temp and wandering an intermediate airport waiting for the next flight, he might very well infect others in the airport that had not even been to west africa. My point was trying to illustrate that it's just not as simple as barring flights from the impacted west african countries. Would you advocate a ban on returning US citizens? When would the ban end - Ebola may manifest itself over time due to its natural cycle - which no one understands.

You clowns kill me. Obama now to blame for Ebola. You should really REALLY seek help or perhaps continue your trek to heavens gate via Mr. Applewhite I agree with you somewhat, a president can't and shouldn't be blamed in every circumstance especially for things he can't control. But I'm curious were you so quick to defend Bush?

But I'm curious were you so quick to defend Bush? I voted for Bush at the time. There is little I blame any President for. In fact I believe most off our woes of late is due to nothing more than a power struggle that use to take place every four years now takes place each and every day through obstructionism, slander, bold faced lies... all to jockey for a leg up in whatever election is next. If you win you push policies that promote the agenda of the wealthy backers that put you in office. If you lose you cockblock at each and every turn and use every opportunity to deface the reputation of the guy that beat you, until the next election. Rinse, repeat. Party affiliation does not matter.

Dr. Ben Carson: How to keep Ebola out of America"As the Ebola infection rate and death toll continue to rise rapidly on the African continent, many of us have become complacent with the measures we have taken to protect Americans from this deadly disease. Other nations, such as England, have gone so far as to ban flights emanating from the affected regions of Africa. The Centers for Disease Control and various infectious-disease specialists have done a yeoman’s job in their effort to prevent infected individuals in our country from contaminating others. For this reason, I and many others are not comfortable with the idea of bringing infected individuals into our midst when we can readily treat them elsewhere. We can happily receive them back once the infectious danger has passed." www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/oct/7/carson-how-to-keep-ebola-out-of-america/#ixzz3G2nm3CBN

Thanks for the link. I'm a big fan of Dr. Carson - talk about a success story this guy is it! I believe he has retired from pediatric neurosurgery. I would love to see him get involved more in government - he would make a great leader. If any of you haven't heard about this guy please google his name, watch the movie, or read the book - you will be impressed.

No - I think she's cute. As long as she keeps her mouth shut. I'm sure she's a lot cuter and smarter than you. And that is a very sexist comment from a righteous person like yourself.
