The older, more experienced team won today. Manhertz, after doing absolutely nothing the first half, turned it up and muscled the Griffs to this victory. He killed us with his second chance put backs. He did what seniors are supposed to do agaisnt underclassman.
Baron was pretty irrelevant today, but came thru with a huge "3" to seal the game. Bisping played great, and Evan did some really good things again besides scoring (3 reb, 3 ass.). Heath had those 3 big "3"s in the first half, and is a great shotblocker.
The refs didn't lose this game for us, but the early foul trouble (7-1?) in the 2nd half definitely put us at a defensive disadvantage in the 2nd half. Baron does get special treatment , like most POY's do, and he's good at flailing his arms to get fouls that aren't. Again, experience. We don't have it, they did. These two teams are pretty evenly matched right now, which is a good sign for the team losing no one, and bad news for the one losing 4 starters.

Great game, the team played really hard. They did a good job on Baron, but I was impressed with how he let the game come to him and didn't press with Siena running two players at him. I was also very impressed by the defensive effort of Evan on Baron, he really smothered him and denied him the ball. His defensive efforts are an amazing improvement over last year. I have to ask though if anyone else agrees about two close calls that went against us that made a huge difference. The first was the charge called against Lavon with about 8 minutes left; from my seat (half court lower level - $10 ticket with "seat upgrade" program) the Canisius player clearly moved his feet and slid into Lavon. Bam, instead of count the basket plus one, Lavon is sitting with four fouls. Three minutes later, Bisping appeared to have established position early and before Baron made his move, Baron runs into him, and the call goes against Bisping. From my view (albeit not objective), both were bad and very costly calls. Good effort, fun team to watch, and looking forward to see this team (and the program) continue to grow and develop.

I had a good view on the Lavon call-- he clearly lowered his shoulder- had he not done that the call would have gone other way ..as for other call..well that was baron what do you expect..LOL

FWIW, Watched the game on ESPN3 and the announcers said both calls, while close, were the correct calls. The slightly better and more experienced team won . Like you said Baron didn't force anything and played like the POY and involved everybody. 6 assists and 5 steals.

Thanks, I appreciate the input and opinions! I'm glad I never got into officiating basketball, everyone in the stands an expert and has a better view than the ref who is 5 feet away!

The Siena game is not supposed to be your Super Bowl. I don't want Iona winning another MAAC championship. If your Griffs lose to them tomorrow, that'll mean you've been making the chump comments. Win another game or shut it. Another chump comment

The call against Long should have been a block; same with Bisping. But we can do this dance forever. Hymes went baseline with Heath there and got bailed out with an awful call.

Also, I'm afraid that all your chest-thumping is going to look a little foolish if your team can't do it.

We won. Your fanbase adds all sorts of meaningless qualifications to the win. Those are chump comments and done by losers.

Your team did what even Mitch B managed to do and made it to a semifinal game. Maybe just pack it up and head back to Buffalo now? The important game was apparently today.

You take this much too seriously. I'm just going to call out chump comments. You continue to try and find meaning in it.

Not only did the more experienced team win, but it was a tale of two halves.
First half Canisius turned the ball over, was in foul trouble & hit 3's. Siena couldn't hit 3's had few TOs drove the ball & hit FTs. Siena up by 1.
Second half Siena hits 3's, in foul trouble & turns the ball over. Canisius drives the ball, rebounds, makes FTs, can't make 3's and doesn't turn ball over.
Canisius first half made 8 3's & only attempted like 6 two pointers. Second half they drove the ball & got FTs.
Siena played well. The better team won. Siena had a chance to still be in a position to win this game at the end.
Siena = the future is bright. Loose no scholarship Srs.
Canisius = win this year because you're loosing too many pieces (and possibly a coach). Barron may not stick around very long (retire or try and move up). I'd be surprised if he's still there in next couple of yrs.
I believe Canisius is better than Iona (more complete team - offense & defense). They could win MAAC and send Iona to NIT. MAAC could send multiple teams to post season play (NIT, CIT, CBI).

I think Iona and Manhattan will win on Sunday and maybe big. Manhattan has a very good chance to beat Iona on Monday night. I think we took a lot out of Canisius today... I think the Gaels will handle them. Don't see Quinnipiac beating Manhattan three times especially being banged up.

Perhaps not puffing your chest - but certainly getting your last licks in while you can. A wise move because you know the end is near and the return of Canisius near the bottom of the league looms large. But then again, maybe you don't know that. You may actually think that Canisius' little two year run of being decent wasn't a fluke due to the presence of the kind of player Canisius would otherwise never get - and is sustainable after he departs. You might believe a team that could do no better than 4th with the best player it's likely to ever have will somehow improve on that when he's gone. That's a debate for another time. I'll just leave it at: enjoy this time and get your licks in while you can. Because things are a changin'.
